Anyone been to kosovo ? I might be going through there later in the year and wonder what it's like. Seems to be a place that has a reputation of somewhere to avoid but is it that bad? Reassuring stories would be good!
Sorry no, but where I live has been known to be referred to as Kosoville, and other than an incoherent dead eyed hoodie repeatedly kicking the front door at silly-o-clock in the morning, the other half being pelted by an egg thrown from a car as she walked down the street, and some funny ****s in a hatchback stalking me for five minutes while on my bicycle commuting home from a lateshift, and rubbish and dog shit lined pavements, we're fine!
I did a long weekend (well, 5 days) in Serbia and kosovo earlier in the year. Both are cheap. Serbia is nice, Belgrade's a great night out. You can't travel into kosovo then into Serbia (without first travelling to Serbia), and you can't take a Serbic hire car into Kosovo. Travel between the two was a bit of a pain (you have to get a once-daily bus from the side of the motorway).
Once you're there, Kosovo's nice enough, but there's not a whole lot of stuff to do. The countryside is nice, locals super friendly, they love clinton, and the beer tastes ok. Can't say anything else about it really, but happy to answer any specific questions
oh and just to add, other than minor hassles getting about, didn't see the slightest hint of trouble anywhere
Cheers for the replies. I'll be cycling through from montenegro and out into macedonia. I know about the issues with the serbian borders but I'm not going that way. I assume it's rep comes from people associating it with the balkan war.
