I know some aren’t keen but I like the simplicity of planning rides on Komoot.

only done local routes so they come within the free region. But I’m now looking at doing some further away.
is it worth paying for the regions or world? As far as I can work out without it I won’t get the turn by turn instructions or ability to use the maps if I don’t have a signal.

But I plan to use my wahoo elemnt so doesn’t that mean the route will already be downloaded to that?

Probably being dumb but can’t see advantage of paying for the regions, am I missing something?

I bought the world map as it was on sale and after you buy a few regions it's nearly the same price. I use my wahoo and it does give turn by turn once it's downloaded to the unit but having bought the world map 🗺️ be no idea if it'll work for regions you don't have but wouldn't think it would.

**edit**

There's a regular offer of "the world" for £19.99 or so. I bought that a couple of years ago. I use Komoot for most of my route planning now, even though I actually navigate using one of my Garmins.

FWIW any map updates I do in OSM pop up on the Komoot mapping in around 10 days. I think they might have a fortnightly upload from OSM. RWGPS seems to update more frequently but I don't like that as a planning tool..

I bought the world option for a one off fee of £20 -£30. Definitely worth it when you go away for finding routes

If you have missed the one off special offer for the whole world, it is for a limited time and iirc about 3 weeks after installing the app, you could try reinstalling Kommot. That's what I did after procrastinating and missing the window.

Sign up for a new account through this for a free region as well as the usual free area. I’ve no connection with site but worked for me and the wife.

Bought the world for £19.99 - went on a 500 mile trip from Rotterdam to Osnabruck and back - worked really well just downloaded the regions I travelled through - did a bit of gravel too. It worked really well - use a wahoo roam. good for planning the trip and get in points of interest.

I bought the world years ago on a special as I was holidaying in Spain prior to living here more.

I like the road surface indication and the points of interest are very good.

There is also the ‘premium’ sub which brings a few more things

I suppose it depends on how far afield you are going but of all the planning things I found it to be the easiest thing to sit down on an evening and plan a route for the weekend using the poi’s.

I navigate on a hammerhead Karoo 2.
