Payplan has an interactive map of UK debt (well clients they are helping):
http://www.payplan.com/ukdebtmap/?postcode=
Amazing how big the numbers are for debt, near me 23 people owing £2m between then.
56 and 5.5 mill near me
168 people / 17.7 million debt in my postcode area in the last 12 months!
They are the parents of the kids I teach...
401 and 28.6!
😯
9 £250k
2 people, £32K in the last 12 months. Nothing from 3 months.
Those figures include secured debt though, so potentially mortgages?
If so, the levels aren't that bad.
175 people, 22million!
ouch
Debt assessed in the RG14 area
Total people advised 58
Total value of new debts £6,092,379.00
Average debt per person (secured & unsecured) £105,041.02
New Debt Management Plans 27
New IVA's 19
New Trust Deeds 0
3 in our village owing £33k and one CVA - now who could that be....?
Those figures include secured debt though, so potentially mortgages?
It's whatever they have defaulted on and have set up a debt repayment plan for. So yes, mortgages could be included - although at a total stab in the dark guess, I'd expect more non home owners to have debt problems than house owners?
Total people advised 10
Total value of new debts £1,113,393.00
Average debt per person (secured & unsecured) £111,339.30
Ahh, I used to be a credit underwriter, trust me, its waaaayyyyyy more mind boggling when you see the details.
"I owe 60K on maxed out accumulated credit cards, i'm rubbing my Overdraft up the wrong way and I missed two mortgage payments in the last 2 years... you know what? I want a new car..." 🙄
The really annoying thing was we knew KNEW that if we said no, someone else would say yes.
I do not miss that industry...
I'd expect more non home owners to have debt problems than house owners?
Can't say as to now, but while tenants were generally more committed, they tended to get by treading water and not go bad. i.e. you're gonna miss payments to your landlord, not your mortgage provider...
382 and nearly £27 million by me!!
Looks like a lot of people in debt around here!
260 & £27 Million.... 104k average!!!
144 8.5 million 60k per person average in one of the poorer areas of Stoke! Can't imagine the average income being anything like 20k a year around here!
Hang on you are going to have to humour me because I am a bit twp, are we saying that these are debts that arent a mortgage?? Or does the mortgage come into it if you have missed a few payments?
3 in our village owing £33k and one CVA - now who could that be....?
Start a witch hunt.....
The "debt" is the total debts of the individual which are included in the restructuring by Payplan, so it may or may not include mortgages.
Ah ok cheers footflaps, still some pretty scary numbers.
in the last 12 months. 788 people, £57m, £72k per person.
is this personal debt, or does it include business debt?
In the last 12 months
2 people
£293k debt
£146k per person
Rural area
Yikes - 16mil near my parents, but only a mere 400k in my old stomping ground of North Wales
Scary figures. We seem to be doing not too bad though. Looking at all postcodes in the county only 2 people advised, 1 new debt management plan, with an average debt of £19.5k. Admittedly the population is only 20k of which 81.3% is in work which helps.
Looks like SM6 is the worst area. Interesting numbers.
oh, so that's not just debt, it's debt people have defaulted on, or have asked for help on?
jesus...
including out house we owe 150k, but nowhere near defaulting on it.
In my old town 1 person, £6.5k, not a huge amount. New one, 50 folk and around £3.5 million.
M21
Total people advised = 560
Total value of new debts = £38,588,300.00
Avergage £69k
Not really that surprising.
Total people advised : 60
Total value of new debts: £4,457,200.00
Average debt per person (secured & unsecured): £74,286.67
Average debt per person round ours is 88 grand. if that does include mortgages then I laugh at the average debt figure 🙁
Total people advised 54
Average debt £77000, yikes.
Bit nosey aren't you?
Does it make any difference to your life apart from knowing what other owe, including yourselves BTW.
well yes, I know if they borrow a pint of milk, I might not get it back.
48 and 65mil!
Average debt per person helped: £157,626.57
😯
Still, there are a lot of shiny cars on the roads.
Not one in the postcode where my house is. Not that suprised though. Cattle do not seem that creditworthy.
It's interesting, but not really all that informative - this is only people who are in such bad shape that they have to go to this company for help. In Bearsden, population 28,000, that's 135 people.
Not really surprisingly, people who get in that much trouble end up owing a lot.
Its pretty meaningless. Correlated to house prices and job vacancies would be better.
No debt in Hexham it seems...
None in my part of Edinburgh either. Or the estates either side.
What this country really needs right now is a government backed housing bubble to sort this debt mess out.
I think people are confusing "no debt" with "no one has used this particular company to resolve problems with their debt"

Payplan is the biggest debt plan company, mainly as it's completely free and supported by all the banks / credit card companies (and CAB) who pay it's running costs. So it will cover a fair chunk of total debt in plans. Obviously there are loads of sharks out there offering the same service but with a huge up front fee included (to add to the debt).
23 people owing 1.2 million in my area of Carmarthenshire. I don't know if this is good or bad. What I think is good though is the number of skips appearing outside of peoples houses- they are feeling confident enough to get building/ renovating.
What I think is good though is the number of skips appearing outside of peoples houses
I thought you were going to say being evicted!
Sadly all governments think they need to fuel growth with debt, so the cycle will continue. Seems to be the only plan they have.
Meanwhile the economy is global, banking control and tax is national.
Then they moan that banks dont lend, but why should they lend if the business plan dosent stack up.
Mortgages will be handed down from parents to kids soon as the terms will have to get longer and longer.
Short term head in the sand politics.
The purpose of politicians is to get re-elected, hence Osbourne's insane house price inflation government backed over committed mortgage plan. Just keep prices up till the next election, then it can all crash again and they'll still blame Labour for it!
1 person, £200k...Oh flip, it's the wife.
96 people and £9.6M here. I presume that this is not mortgage based debt. So £100K per person. I can believe it around here.
712 people
£52.5 million.
😯
Well the circle they drew on the map for my postcode didn't include my house...
Is this just PayPal or overall debt?
To get an idea of just how many of these Debt Relief Orders there are:
186 households. £12.7 million
176, owing 11.5 million.
It's grim ooop north.
4 owe £380k here. Dunblane is a place of big money in more than one way...
Now't in my postcode DG6 or any in the surrounding area outside it.
Total people advised 959
Total value of new debts £75,149,066.00
Average debt per person (secured & unsecured) £78,361.90
We're all debt free on the Isle Of Man 8)
272 households owing £18.5m here in Southampton eek. 🙁
only 6 here £186000
