More properly known as acute ischiogluteal bursitis. We have 150 bursa in our bodies, which are lubricating layes around our joints. When the layers become inflamed we get pain and swelling, called bursitis. This is inflammation of the bursa surrounding the ischial or sit bones of the pelvis. It used to affect skinny people mostly in their 40s and 50s who sat for long periods of time on a wooden bench at a loom; Mrs Gti has got it from spending many many hours stuck in traffic on a badly-adjusted car seat. It's extremely painful, she hasn't sat down for 8 weeks now, she can't drive or work. She has had a steroid injection and is having physio, which hasn't made much difference. Her hips, knees and elbows are getting more and more sore because she is in too much pain to sit or lie on her back. She's extremely depressed.

Does anybody know anyone who's had this? How long did it last? Physio and consultant are both unsure but say it could be months.
