Last year I had bursitis in my right knee. It took over 6 months to go away and pretty much wrecked my life day to day until this January.
So tonight if I press my left kneecap it hurts. I'm pretty sure it's bursitis. Slightly uncomfortable to stand on it. It's gradually got worse over the last 6 hours.
No trauma in either case - just came from nowhere which makes me suspect an infection.
For various reasons it's really important for me to do a Parkrun tomorrow.
Any bursitis sufferers tell me if one 5k run's going to make a big negative difference. Obviously if running causes pain or feels 'wrong' I'll stop.
Mine was elbow, not knee but if you're thinking of doing anything other than pampering the hell out of it until it fully recovers then bursitis is the least of your worries.
I can't see how any park run could be that important. People might think you a hero for a day for "pushing through". However, when they see the pain and problems it caused, they'll just think you a fool.
Sorry if the above sounds harsh but in case you haven't guessed, it really isn't a good idea.
You shouldn’t run because running is a shit form of exercise.
But seriously, why punish yourself through something if you’re not a pro? Exercise is meant to be fun isn’t it?
Thanks Onzadog. On my back with ice on my knee. Think I just needed to hear the obvious from someone else. 🙁 It's not bad, maybe I'll have nipped it in the bud.
Curiousyellow, yes running is flawed, but it's something that forces me to work hard from the off. It can be done under Street lights in the winter and it can be done from my front door or in lunchtime at work.
