Looking for a new built in oven and hob for a kitchen refurb.

There is a massive difference price for very similar looking ovens, even from the same manufacturer.

Quite like the look of Neff, reputation wise they seem to be oven equivalent of Miele washing machines. Are they worthy of it? Any other alternatives?

Is there much difference between a £600 oven and a £900 one? Spec looks similar on paper. Not sure why the premium?

We went for cheap/no name hob and built in oven.

Hob has been ace and can't see the need to pay over the odds.

Oven is blooming noisy and not very even on the bake, wish we'd spent a wee bit more money there.

Like the idea of the self clean function on some of the higher end ovens.

I fitted a complete set of Neff built in stuff last year (hood, hob, dishwasher, larder fridge, oven, combi-oven).

Been very pleased with it and all works well.

We've got Hafele, as used in the Great British Bake-off. Got it from a mate show's the sales rep - he reckons that there are towns in NOrthern Italy that specialise in making certain bits of kitchen equipment so town A will have factories making extractor hoods, town B will do hobs and so on - and the same factories all produce good for all the "different" suppliers. I suppose then it comes down to the specifications from the different companies

Our new Rangemaster extractor hood is considerably quieter than the Screwfix one it replaced...

I thought the GBBO used NEFF ovens. The doors retract into the space under the oven.

We have a NEFF oven (light keeps on blowing), NEFF Induction hob (works well, but miss a gas hob) and a NEFF Dishwasher (works well, but design could be better).

[Edit] We had a Britannia Latour cooker hood in our last house that was extremely powerful (1000 meters cubed per hour). Extraction knarr!!

We've got a neff oven, gas hob and extractor. When i looked the more expensive ovens just seemed to have more features that we wouldn't use so we got a cheaper oven and spent more on the hob and extractor mainly for aesthetic meetings.

Suspect different end of the spectrum to what you're looking at as all 3 were £1000

I'll be honest I don't watch it, I just recall Mrs NBT saying something...

They are Neff - I nearly got one but it was a £300 premium over the same model without and you lost oven space to do it to.

Interested by this. We've got a Bosch built in double oven and while it's been OK, it can be variable for baking despite being a fan. Now the fan motor is very noisy, we're considering a change as i get the feeling she might not have long left, and weighing up the cost of repairing those parts vs gettign anew one.

Are all built under ovens the same width (not including double width, etc., obviously)

Have a look on Ebay / Amazon as after market OEM parts are pretty cheap. No need to have to pay a premium for the branded part.

When we did up our house to sell we did the same, and had the same experience. But then at less than £200 fitted the pair... Next time it'd be worth spending more on the oven, but only maybe double.

We bought a cheap oven years ago an regretted it. Thin metal seemed to get very hot. Plastic handle lost its finish

NEFF oven is better. But we regret not paying for a double oven. Thats a small top oven. Either for plate warming or some times cooking at 2 temperatures.

Get one with a pyrolising facility - or whatever the manufacturer calls it.
That way cleaning the oven is done with a vacuum cleaner in 2 minutes.

My money went on a Stoves hob and oven as did my 2 brothers and none of us have had any problems at all.

Bosch here. They've both been brilliant and we love our cooking. Oven is very efficient, temperatures are accurate, and it self cleans which is a godsend.
