Wondering if someone with some joinery/kitchen fitting knowledge could help answer a quick question for me.
Would this Ikea Sink fit into this base unit?
Annoyingly Ikea kitchen units don't have service voids (which I need), but they do have the sink I would like, so I'm hoping I can bodge the Ikea sink with the DIY units!
Cheers for help.
The depth of that Ikea sink is very big (66cm) if I'm reading right, You'll not fit that in any standard depth kitchen units (or even Ikea's of for that matter... Most units have an internal space of about 525mm or 575mm maximum if no back in them. I suspect that sink is for a special free standing unit?
Try sinks-taps.com for a large range of standard fit sinks...
The sink in the link is a Belfast style that over hangs the unit at the sides.
It will fit on top an 800 base but you'd need a Belfast sink base (you'd need to find the sink hieght as there is a few different sizes) or a unit/doors/filler adapted to suit. Possibly wider worktops/units pulled off wall to suit.
But it could be made to work.
Possibly something like this

It's not the side to side width as you can get a unit width to pretty much fit anything if you have the room, but the front to back depth that bothers me, it would overhang the front of a unit by 100mm??
Blazin, if you look at the pics it is supposed to overhang, by the look of it 100mm is probably about right (bearing in mind the panels will bulk it out a bit). Plus you can always space the unit out from the wall a bit - our new build was still wonkey and needed some jiggery pokery to get everything lined up right.
The sink is 830. The outer bowl will be about 790, so the over hanging lip will be about 20mm.
It looks like there is a lip on the front edge also. So 660 - 20 = 640. So it should project about 40mm past the worktop.
I've fitted a stainless one very similar before.
It would be the height I'd be more concerned with. Ikea have a mind of their own when it comes to kitchens!
Homebase have 50% off their units if you buy 8 or more, plus 20% off. 20% off ends TODAY.
I paid £510 yesterday for 7 wall units and a base unit with a discount of over £700 🙂
