We have a 3 way mixer tap in the kitchen. 1 side does hot and cold, the other side water through a water filter for drinking.
Returning from a week away our water was initially yellow, probably a repair done some where on the network. Today Server Tren advised that our supply had a small leak (their side of the supply) and they have stopped it. They showed me it was an exposed pipe in the manhole before our meter.
Anyhow returning from leave the filter water would flow for poss 5 seconds and then banging bikes and it would stop flowing. The cold tap would still flow with no issues. After 5 mins or so the filtered water would flow again before again stopping.
I've taken the filtered water tap line apart, there are no blockages as the flow rate in and out of the filter are normal until it just stops.
The water filter pipes are fed off the main pipe that goes to the kitchen tap, probably just 60cm below it on the pipe.
Ive turned the mains water off, opened all the taps etc and then turned back on. No difference. Sometimes it will flow properly, sometimes not at all.
Since the water co have repaired their leak this morning there has been nothing coming out the tap (probably just a coincidence, the repair was just putting a collar on the leaking pipe.)
The mixer tap is a cheap one off Amazon, but I cant see that would matter, as its a separate feed in to the mixer tap. All I could think is that somehow inside its plastic and bits have worn enable a vacuum of some sort to be created?
Any ideas ? Ta
