Was thinking about upgrading my old Paperwhite for one of these. Amazon are out till December, but Argos seem to have them in stock.

Anyone got one, and if so any good? Worth the upgrade?

Only going for the Wi-Fi version.

Look at the Kobo Aura H2O as an alternative. I did and don't regret it at all. Managed to get all my Amazon books onto it through Calibre and I can now borrow from the local library as well.

I take an almost childish pleasure in dropping it in the bath now.

Do like the look of the Kobo, but not being able to email books to it, like I can with my Kindle, is enough to make me think twice.

I have one. Never had a paper white so don't know how much better it is - way better than my old style kindle though! I got it mainly for the page turn buttons as I much prefer those to using a touch screen when reading.

How are the page turn buttons? Can you hold it in one hand, and not keep hitting them?

Yes - I hold it with my thumb on the button then press down on it to turn.

Cheers for that. Anything else I should know? There's a few people on Amazon moaning about uneven lighting on their Voyages. Any issues?

For flaperon...

Just to confirm, I am right in that you have to physically connect the Kobo, or memory card, to your PC/Mac to copy books over? Well, that or buy direct off the Kobo Store?

Loads of people moaned about uneven lighting on the paperwhite too but as far as I can tell they were all obsessed with that wee bit in the bottom couple of mm

Only mildly relevant but I'm a total whispersync for voice addict. I like reading but struggle to find enough time in my life to read enough for the plot to move along fast enough to keep me engaged. I also listened to a lot of audiobooks when driving, fiddling around in the shed or workshop, mowing the grass etc. Being able to combine the two with a kindle for the reading and the audible app on my phone for listening is an absolute genius use of technology and a reason I wouldn't be able to move to kobo etc.

Very few people seem to have started using it.

I think that is what it will boil down. Amazon have the backend stuff sorted.

As it goes, I have the last Voyage in town reserved at Argos, Amazon out of stock till the 22nd*, and a H20. Going past there tomorrow, so will have to decide by then 8)

*People seem to be paying £200 for them on eBay. Madness.
