Well?
Good for what?
Tesco HUDL seems to get better reviews and cheaper
Good for what?
Reading books mostly.
Reading books mostly.
Just get a Paperwhite for reading books.
I have a kobo glo and I really like it, a fire wouldn't have the same clarity of purpose: It's for reading books so you aren't distracted by the internet
Tablets like the iPad, note etc are heavier because they need a power supply and a screen so you can't easily hold them in one hand for long periods like you would an eBook
My kids have kindle fires and they are fine for browsing, playing games, and music. Surprisingly good speaker for a tablet. I wouldn't choose one just for reading I would go with a ereader, wife has a Nook Glow-light which she likes.
I would get a proper e-reader if you mainly want it for books
the Kindle Fire has limited apps , it's not full android and plenty of apps aren't available
the kindle fire has limited apps... but everything is relative
I've got one and don't need all the apps the android store has to offer.. those that aren't available in the amazon android store can be sideloaded... the minimal interface and speedy hardware is a real plus IMO
Thanks for the input. I know nothing about these, but I do know that I have too many paperback books cluttering up the place and I need to do something about it.
Daft question:- If I got a Nook Glowlight how does it work with buying ebooks from Amazon?
Stop making things complicated, and get a Paperwhite.
It's just easier.
Find book. One click. Book appears on Kindle. Read.
I imagine you can buy ebooks off Amazon, and put them on the Nook. But you would have to download them to a Kindle app on your pc/mac, and then load them into Calibre and strip the DRM.
...or you can just buy from Barnes & Noble's Nook site.

...oh, and if you get the Paperwhite from Tesco, they are currently offering:
As above, get a paperwhite. The screen is really nice for reading as oppose to the 'glow' of the fire or just about any tablet/phone.
Damn you and your money saving coupons, I've only just brought a paperwhite! Though I did get it for 99 quid from John Lewis with a 2 year warranty, so I'd only have saved a tenner at tesco.
Second [s]Jamies[/s] everyones comments about just getting a Paperwhite. Much nicer to read books on than the iPad kindle app.
Paperwhite all the way. No contest.

v1 or v2? I have the v1, and wondering if their is a compelling reason to get the v2.
The selling point of the Kindle Fire seems to be the 'help' function

I didn't even know there was a v1 and a v2! Having done a bit of quick research it's got the Amazon logo on the back and not Kindle which google tells me is a v2. Apparently the display and processor are meant to be improved but I've never used a v1 so can't comment on that.
I have one and it's awesome, actually I have two. The kindle fire hd speakers are really really good. The kindle fire has quieter speakers but this is a plus sometimes as even on lowest volume the hd plays porn too loud.
Just put Sonic 1 & 2 and GTA on the missuses one.
Good for that 😀
