What's the go to place for kids winter coats? My 4yr old needs a bigger warmer coat, something waterproof and warm. Are ski jackets good substitutes? Decathlon do a few

or a massive parka, but i just cant get 'they killed kenny out of my head.'

Its easy being an adult,my bike jacket does everything much to my partners disgust.

we bought a cheaper decathlon ski jacket for my 4 year olds winder coat a month or so ago (the stripey reversable one). Works well. We discounted the one you linked as we thought it might be too warm (live in the south east, our kid takes his coat off when he's hot)

We tend to get a huge ski jacket for the younger one (dare2be I think at present) which he uses skiing, boarding and mooching around in the col. He also had a TNF Duvet that we got cheap from Taunton Leisure. He uses that mainly in the house and when it's cold and dry.

The elder kid tends to be much warmer. Fleeces covered with a waterproof shell. If it's proper Baltic then he uses a synthetic thinish duvet as well.

Where are you?
( Near Manc?)

Yes, ski jackets are good for this. And trespass is often a good alternative to decathlon for them.

We are in Bath, so miles away from Manchester. Might just go for parka thing, my wife is Greek and thinks the boy is always freezing.

As said above, decathlon and trespass.
I'll add go outdoors and craghoppers/regatta online outlets too.

Funny, I've been trying to "spec" an everyday coat. Warm, waterproof, roomy, good coverage. Ski jackets for the bill and there are tonnes on Sports pursuit "half price". Dunno about kids, but validates the ski jacket approach.

At that age my kids had a series of "Super warm" Puffa Parka things from Gap which seemed to do the job nicely.

We didn't pay this much for them (pretty sure Gap have DFS like permasale on these days.)

Aldi do ski jackets through winter. both of our have had them and theyve been great. Waterproof, warm, durable and cheap. Think they both had more than 2 winters wear from them.

I use an online store called Muddy Puddles for my girls (6 & 4) outdoor coats, splash suits, welly socks.... The quality is excellent. My youngest is in a coat passed down from her big sister.

They have some great stuff & I highly recommend them. I will be shopping with them when my eldest outgrows her current stuff.

Ski jackets and Parkas etc don't tend to be waterproof in my experience. Also, your kid may not need wrapping up in a huge jacket designed for -15C when it's +10C outside. Ski jackets tend to have things like cuffs inside the sleeves and around the waist.

We always bought the cheap waterproofs from Go Outdoors or similar, and if it's cold a jumper on underneath is sufficient. Or in the case of my eldest, no jumper, cos she runs so warm she actually raises the temperature of the local environment when she goes outside. And the added benefit is that the jacket also works to keep rain off all year round.
