Just wondering what groups are doing now all activities are stopped. Some Scout and Guide units round us have stopped collecting subs while face to face activities are on hold, couple of sports clubs meeting this week to review.

Obviously there are ongoing overheads that still need covering, but just totting up what our two cost a month, even a 50% discount would be very nice, and for any families losing income now it could make a huge difference.

My daughter stopped rainbows a week early. Can't see that they are making much of a saving, the subs will only be covering materials and keeping the lights on. I guess I'm fortunate that I can work from home and can afford to "let them off".

Ours have all stopped taking cash but are asking people not to cancel the DD's.   We had CentreParcs offer refund or rebooking both options with a £100 credit which we have rebooked for Easter 2021* currently, and the kids Summer club paid for by childcare vouchers will carry them forward to the next opportunity.

*my wages are 50% commission so my thoughts are to get a holiday booked on the basis I might not earn enough in 2020 to pay for a holiday in 2021.

Still paying fees at the moment as I want these places to be around once it is all over and no-one was getting rich at them anyway. Will obviously review at some point but for the moment sticking with it

Good question. I'm fortunate enough, for now at least, to be salaried staff so I'm keeping all my memberships and subs on whether me or the family can use them. I'm already going to be saving a chunk per week in petrol, to be arguing that others that depend on this income should forego it seems wrong.

Same way, we're paying our dog walker even though we can walk the dog ourselves, my DD to the window cleaner etc will still go out whether they can come or not, etc. I realise not everyone has the option, for some money is drying up as we speak in spite of what the Gov is doing. But if you can, keep supporting your providers so they can get through this as well

In terms of what we are getting for it? My bootcamp is still running - they're dropped all equipment, it's bodyweight only or take your own. It's open air, there's no more partnering exercises and as they pointed out, they shout at fields of squaddies for a living, so we can all stay 5m apart and we'll all still be able to hear well enough. My kids theatre club has stopped in person but they are doing stuff on FB live, etc. instead - dance classes, yoga, whatever. All stuff that could be found from free sources, maybe, but that seems wrong to take my support away just because I can get it cheaper elsewhere.

Our scout group are leaving it to the parents discretion as there are a lot of fixed costs still payable and we’ve just forked out over £2k getting the minibus through its mot.

OK, coming clean, I'm an Exec member of the Scout group and currently one of only two on the committee who feel we should even be reviewing it. Some local groups have stopped subs some haven't.

As a parent, I don't want any of their activities to fold due to being closed for 3-6 months. But neither do I want to be paying out £150-200 (both involved in other things at county/national level) a month with no direct contact activities. Especially as we are about to see a 10% cut in wages as MrsMC changes role.

I know - and all the parents that read the accounts we published last month will know - that we are in a pretty healthy financial situation for a Scout group. Any parent with a problem can come and talk to us and we'd waive it. But some don't like asking - we have a few parents we have to talk to quietly to see how we can help with camp fees and stuff. Some would cancel the DD and we'd probably not see the kids again.

Given the ethos of Scouting I just felt that we should be offering 50% off or stopping it altogether for now. Seems the leaders want to put it into a pot to subsidise a big group camp when activities get back up and running. Suggesting that not offering to help people upfront was "unScouty" has not gone down well!

I think that every group in the country have some leaders that seem to forget parts of the scout law!

My daughters gymnastics subs are about £130 a month. They have asked that everyone keeps paying, or they won't be able to open again once it's all done.

They have been upfront and said with the possibility of Govt cash might make the sums work for everyone to get a discount. We'll see. They are run as a not-for-profit so they have no real cash reserves.

The lads skiing is £100 a month; but that is frozen. (I didn't just type that, did I?)

In our scouts we charge an amount which covers the years subs. It’s the £45ish which gets paid to HQ for insurance etc then we charge an additional £25. That money covers some materials we need to run activities in the hall & badges.

If we are going out to do an activity then the parents pay for the event if their child is attending.

We’ve stopped all DDs on OSM and are obviously refunding any money paid so far by parents for camps that are now cancelled between now and June.
