any recommendations?

kids are aged 8 & 10.

I was set on a Garmin vivoactive JR3 each but the age range is 4-8 so I’m concerned they’d sharp grow out of them and would want something a little more ‘grown up’ so to speak.
i’m a Garmin man so I was keen on going down the Garmin route.

I don’t see many other options other than a Fitbit Ace 3 which they recommend up to around 12 years old.

does anybody have any experience of either of these or know of any other options?

Preferably want something  that’d be ok to swim with.

We had a FitBit Inspire, it has some child oriented animations but basic functionality was acceptable. It was small enough not to look oversized on a small wrist. Likely the same with the Garmin so probably not suitable for 8-10 year olds. They’re all a bit crap though as children just aren’t interested in any of the metrics IME.

Prisoner number 2 has a Vivoactive jr. it’s basically just a step counter. She loves it though and will enthusiastically go for a walk justvtongetvher step count up above mum.  She’s 8 and a fitness freak.

Best bit is i can send her chores to do.

Worst bit is it syncs only when she tells it to, so the chores list is always out of date.

Eldest (11 now) has had a vivoactive 2 for about 3 years. It's does everything she needs really, tells time, notifications of chores (and school music lesson time!), tooth brushing timer. She also looks at the step count. The battery life is also really good, like 1 battery a year good. Have ordered the youngest (7) the v3 for Christmas.

At the time we bought it we read some sensible discussion that getting kids hooked on tracking and HRM etc was not beneficial and could actually cause harm. Exercise should be for the enjoyment as much as possible. A lot of the other semi smart kids watches also appear to need phones constantly (we held off the 11 year old getting a phone will the last minute before secondary) and charging every few days.

Most of the kids ones are just step counters, not gps activity trackers or even heart rate monitors. The Garmin Jr has some goal things to encourage activity but if your kids already active they're not needed
