Microsoft Wireless Desktop 900 +design and layout -woody feeling keys
Lenovo Ultraslim -noisy -cheap feel
I've not experienced any of the above but I've been looking for a new keyboard with similar requirements and have come across these that might also be worth looking at:
Microsoft Designer - claimed 12 month battery life but compact design
Microsoft Sculpt - claimed 6 - 12 months, split keyboard (if you like them) with separate numberpad
I've used the Surface which is supposedly like the Designer in key feel but a normal layout and really liked it. Only comes in grey from what I've seen so might not suit.
@metcalt forgot to mention I tried the designer, didn't like the key placement and cramped spacing. Also felt a bit cheap although key feel was better than the Desktop 900.
Microsoft designer probably has similar keys, and better spacing, but why no black?
Went ahead and ordered the HP Wireless Premium, since the Elite V2 isn't avail in nordic.
What’s a scissor key?
What’s a scissor key?
It's how the keys move up and down. Scissor is meant to maintain a flatter movement.
There must be an artisan one made from driftwood and recyled marine palstic no?
I've used a lot of keyboards, scissor and otherwise, and I cannot fault the designer desktop keyboard. You may be placing too much importance on the scissor thing.
Designer keyboard has too cramped keys, looking for a full size
Logitech Craft -3 month battery -price
Forget this one completely 3 months battery, maybe if you leave it in the box.... Which is where mine is, has no redeeming features
Logitech K750. It’s solar powered - my first one has just had the rechargable battery replaced after 7 years of office use. The second one for the other workstation is now 3 years old.
K750 looks nice except for the damn piano black, but it seems to self destruct after 3 years for everyone due to the battery in it failing. You can replace it though https://www.amazon.com/Maxell-Rechargable-lithium-motherboard-battery/dp/B00CJ3T188
Keyboards in this house are gamers mechanical (cherry keys ?) or non-mechanical. Just go try a few.
As an 'normal' user, Microsoft Keyboards have been fine.. Our Gamers in my house (the kids) have Steel series non-mechanical (but expensive) and some other 'mechanical' keyboard - talking at least £80 for WIRED.
Any Microsoft one is OK for me.
Problem with microsoft keyboards
Surface keyboard is silver only
Designer keyboard is cramped and not ergonomic (form over function)
900 keyboard doesnt have scissor keys like the ones above, so key feel is very dead and poor for typing although otherwise layout and form factor is excellent.
That leaves you with a bunch of logitech Keyboards, K750, K800, Craft which all have their own quality issues. G613 seems very good, but is a full size gaming keyboard.
HP seems to be the best of the bunch for low profile scissor key, their Elite V2 is vgood and lasted me 4 years.
Low profile mechanical keyboards are on the horizon, but no long battery life 104 key options on the market just yet.
Another vote for the K750 here. The battery is replaceable (kinda) and for the rest of the time never needs any external power.

It's not full size? Could have fooled me!
