I reckon it's about as accidental as when a government minister walks around with their briefing notes on display to the waiting photographers.

We all knew she was pro-conservative though, so no surprises.

Intentional - then followed up with a hard-faced "isn't this embarrassing" semi-defence.

She's a terrible interviewer anyway. Give her the boot and get someone good in.

Cock-up, not conspiracy.

If she was going to tip him off she'd have just done so and we wouldn't have know about it, otherwise what's the point...

The error was copying her team in on a mail to Johnson, not copying Johnson in on a mail to the team

Like I said, she got caught by a colleague and they've been forced to cancel.

It is ridiculous that they were allowing him to plug his book on a prime TV slot masquerading as a hard hitting interview.

That said it would have been funny if they decided to go ahead with Victoria Derbyshire in her place.

100% Laura cc'd someone in the BBC team by mistake

Attached brief hit reply all instead of just the ex PM.

Pretty shitty of the Beeb to give him the airtime for this in the first place. It's not their job to promote his book.

Ever since he refused to be interviewed by Andrew Neil during his hiding in a fridge election campaign, the BBC should have been cold shouldering him when appropriate... and that means all the time since he stopped being an MP.

I've been wondering if the BBC is going to start undoing some of the changes in output and tone that took place at the behest of the Tories*.

I fear not, but the continued pre-eminence of Keunssberg (or not) will be a good bellwether.

*Come back, actual comedy on R4!

Its a blessing. Who wants to watch an interview with Boris thinly dressed up as an ad for a book. Ive never understood who buys these books that justify the advances they get. Someone must or the publishers wouldn't do it

Until the likes of Robbie Gibb and Tim Davey are given the heave-ho it’s BAU at the Beeb.

I'd have maybe watched knowing I shouldn't,  kind of like rubbernecking an accident. Just to see how horrific it was.

I would love to see a proper journalist interview him though. If they could find which fridge he was in.

The cockup was letting her team know about it, at which point someone leaked it.

The only strange thing about it is that she still has a job, she chose to give up everything except for her "contacts" at tory head office and now that's pointless. Why is there an interview with Johnson? Why is she doing it? All she has to offer us now is an insider's view of a disgraced failure.

The Sunday shows have former prime ministers on for interview fairly frequently, and he's potentially an interesting guest in the weekend after conference, even though he just wants to plug his wiff-waff. So no problem with the show inviting him.

The problem is either the high probability of softball questions, or, as we've seen here, deliberately giving him advance notice of topics.

Kuenssberg needs to learn the difference between CC and BCC.

Probably because he had a quite word with The Kuensster. Or whatever his pet name for her is.

The beeb will be running an episode of 'Eastenders' instead

Which will probably be more factual and truthful than anything the shithead liar has to say.

If the breach was accidental, or deliberate then we the viewers are stil the winners.

Wouldn't surprise me.... More a case of cocking up and being caught out. Sure it goes on all the time given her love for the cons....

A desperado trying to stay relevant... a bit like Trump and Farage.

His 'relevance' is directly proportional to the number of dickheads he can con.

It's how he got to make the leap to being Prime Minister after all.

He's on ITV1 tomorrow being interviewed, so yeah, basically a book promo going on.

*Come back, actual comedy on R4!

To be fair, I've been listening to R4 for 25 years, and the comedy has always been 20% funny,  80% dreadful...

Ah, but even the funny 20% bit (the political satire) has been ruined recently with misguided attempts at "balance" or simply being cancelled.

…or announcing he’s joining the leadership scrum?

Not a chance. Much too much like hard work at the moment.

Much better to wait until someone else has done some hard yards and inevitable weariness with an incumbent government has kicked in. Then sweep in to take all. But, TBH, if the Tories go down the Jenrick/Badenoch route, then the next leader of a meaningful Tory party is highly likely to be Farage.
