Does everyone fall over on their first go?
Or is was she tranquilized?
My My
Or?
Ket is a tranq.
I guess this is a reference to Katie Hopkins getting a hit of ketamine so the vet could descale her teeth without the fear of losing a finger due to Katie’s rabid gnashing jaws
I see Dryanuary is over...
This only made the news because she tweeted about it first, a deliberately vague headline designed to have people point a finger at her because they thought she’d OD’d and fallen into a Ket-Hole, even though it’s prescribed to her.
These are the death throws of the career based on upsetting people for money, she’s losing jobs, losing court cases and losing her shock factor.
I guess the bbc documentary I heard about was right about who was taking it....
Only Fools and Horses.
Remember kids, just say neigh...
she’s losing jobs, losing court cases and losing her shock factor.
You left out her house!
More to this than meets they eye. 1) ketamine is not usually used in humans 2) its short acting and if she had been given it while they [put a dislocation back in as she suggests she should have remained in hospital until the effects had gone.
Remember kids, just say neigh…
I support this statement
One of my best friends died in the bath injecting ketamine. We had no idea he was so into it. Dark dark days.
Sadly, the first thought is that the release of these pictures is more about promotion of her latest project than anything else. So I won't mention what it is.

Define usually.
It has a place for induction of anaesthesia and for post-surgical pain.
My mate got some whilst being airlifted in Morzine after a bit of an off, I'll find the vid and post it, if I can work out how to do it....
Yep, quite commonly used prehospitally as either an induction agent or for its dissociative effects. A pretty useful drug all told and very effective for pain relief when used in combination with opioids, plus has less negative physiological side effects.
Some interesting research being done around low-dose ketamine and treatment of depression as well.
I had some in November when I had my hip replaced. I was very chatty to the nurses in the recovery room apparently.
"The right-wing columnist has previously asked her fans to send in photos appearing to show foreigners taking advantage of the NHS’ free service."
And this in the Mail-owned Metro. #MeToo?NotWithYours

Interesting - 15 years or so back, when I worked for a music & clubbing mag, there was a wave of suicides from regular recreational ket users, and lots of talk linking the two. Certainly on a purely anecdotal level, the regular users seemed in a worse mental place than users of other recreational drugs. Guess there must be a "sweet spot" for want of a better word, where it's beneficial, but beyond that, harmful?
RE Ketamine/depression, the research is fairly sparse and has quite a few limitations, but has shown some possible benefit for some forms of bipolar and treatment resistance depression.
Regarding recreational useage causing problems, well I strongly doubt they were calculating the correct drug doseage using dose/kg.
I suppose my point was that being allowed to walk the streets while still under the influence of ketamine seems unlikely
Plopkins is the very epitome of what Caitlin Moran refers to as "being a **** for cash". The great thing about Plopkins is that if we all simply ignore her then she'll go away, even the Heil Online has dispensed with her services after she managed to cost them a mint in legal fees.
"I suppose my point was that being allowed to walk the streets while still under the influence of ketamine seems unlikely"
Being able to walk the streets under the influence of ket is unlikely!
I used to take ket occasionally when I was into clubbing years ago. I found there was a very fine line between doing the right amount and putting yourself into oblivion. So a very small bump of the stuff would give a nice hallucinogenic buzz but a small line could put me into a very unpleasant black hole.
It was good fun...usually.
I do think it's likely pretty bad for you if you abuse it a lot though, more so than other "club" drugs I'd guess.
Also I've no idea how the stuff we used to get would compare to what you get from a hospital.
I'm surprised by the news story as I knew it was used as an anaesthetic in some instances but I never realised it was actually prescribed to people for ongoing issues? I always thought it was used in extreme cases like people on site in car crashes etc.
" I always thought it was used in extreme cases like people on site in car crashes etc."
Like Hatey Plopkins, for example.
One of my old clubbing mates takes it regularly when bopping to the latest beats man.
He has been taking it recreationally for about 12 or so years.. I’ve seen him in some very sorry states because of it and because of his “addiction” now only see him at arms length infrequently..
Just say no kids.
🐴🤮🔥
"1) ketamine is not usually used in humans"
Hmmm.. depends.
Military medics use bucket loads of the stuff for immediate pain releif/replacing dislocations etc.
I'm not sure what teh drug du jour is in SA, but it wouldn't surprise me if it's used there for similar reasons quite commonly.
DrP
Was definitely the best afterparty bang for buck back in the day 😀
I don't know of the story beyond what's written here, but I can't imagine anything more appropriate to give to Katie Hopkins than a horse tranquilliser.
She's apparently been detained by SA border staff as she's been reported for inciting racial hatred.
You'd think that she'd have bothered to undertake a teeny bit of research about the country before her visit.
surely thats exactly what she was hoping for PJM
I feel sorry for her kids tbh
I was given IV ketamine in hospital for pain relief post surgery. I was screaming in agony and morphine wasn't doing anything so it was a last resort. From extreme pain to tripping with the fairies in a matter of seconds followed by several very confusing and entertaining hours of hallucinations. Christ knows why you'd take it recreationally or outside of a hospital.

I think you’ve possibly answered your own question right there...
Unfortunately they've let her go.
Let her go in the "it's the kindest thing" sense?
I've seen the skin of a friend's shins unknowingly bubble into giant blisters against the light of a camp fire whilst he was under the influence of K.
It's certainly affective as a pain killer.
People in K-holes at after-parties looking at their "big hands". That's the noughties for you. Aaah, memories.
Many years ago, I knew somebody that lost half an eyebrow when his legs collapsed beneath him. He hasn't touched the stuff since.
I’m reliably informed that about 40% of “Street” ketamine has no ketamine in it whatsoever. Although low-dose ketamine is used for severe depression, higher doses can cause irreversible bladder damage, so not worth taking recreationally.
I used to do a little in a recreational fashion. It was very rarely and just for the novelty really, I just can't get my head around how people can do it as a habit though.
A few years back I went to a free party and had no intention of leaving for a couple of days so got a bit "worse for wear". The first evening I had some ket and went to the car to get something or other. As I locked it on the key I fell/slipped and in my stupor held on to the key in, I suppose, the hope that it would keep me upright. Well, my key fob was a carabiner/pen knife type thing which cut me right open. Didn't feel a thing, for a while.. Ended up stitching it up myself, yeah I think that was the last time I used it.
May have to get some for the missus though. At times her neuralgia is just too much for her to take and she's tough. It's getting progressively worse and the NHS have been doing F-all for her for nearly a decade..
It's fairly benign in the short term, so long as you don't fall in the hole while BBQing.
Longer term, repeated (ab)use your bladder is going to hell. Messes up the urinary tract, ulcers and stiffening if bladder walls. Pissing blood or loss of bladder control common.

It's not a good look.
Wasn’t there a couple got wrecked on it and they pulled all of each other’s teeth out in their flat.
Dont think I’ll be fancying any of that thanks.
One girl puked up her own pelvis.

Rubbish.Utter rubbish.
We use ketamine infusions to manage acutely psychotic patients in ED. It's also used in surgery. And there's a wealth of evidence which suggests it can be useful in depression.
