We are off to Herefordshire for the weekend and I am toying with the idea of taking our kayaks. Does anyone know of any good launch spots between Hereford and Hay-On_Wye? It would need to have some parking reasonably close by.
I am in two minds whether or not to bother because I imagine everywhere will be rammed but I might just stick them in the van just in-case.

Hereford Rowing club !
Depends on how far you want to paddle ?
If you want a short 4-5 HR pootle the get in at Hereford rowing club and out at Lucksall Campsite. Both charge but it's not bonkers expensive and you can leave a car at each end if that's what your planning (or drop off stuff at rowing club, drove to Lucksall, park and pedal back to Rowing club, lock bike up).
Obviously timing depends on water level but it's a nice stretch and not very busy (compared to lower Wye valley for example).
Lots of picnic spots on the way of you wanted to break it up.
Brilliant - thanks everyone

The rowing club is perfect, parking, easy launching and we had a beer when we got back!!
Bycross farm campsite at Preston on wye.
It won’t be busy to launch from and they have a car park there for day visitors.
Lovely place.
The rowing club seem to be pretty straightforward about parking and boating fees and keen to sell you a breakfast and roast dinner too.

Hope you have / are having a good weekend and didn't watch the Rivercide thing first !
@binman - I am under no illusion how polluted our rivers are. I have always lived pretty much on the Avon and have kayaked in it (and generally messed around in it) since a small boy. There used to be a direct sewage discharge into the river at Saltford, you could stand on the concrete plinth and watch the turds float off into the river.
I sometimes take a mesh bag and collect litter from the river, wish I could do more because it all ends up in the sea.
There is a flood gate in Bath that collects tons of rubbish but they never strain it and when they open it all of the debris (mainly man-made) floats off down the river. And it is right next to the environment agency!!!
Then there is the huge increase in people living on boats on the river, I am sure a lot of their waste goes into the rivers as well.
And then there are the farm fields.....
I never swim in the river.
I've been staying just outside Hereford for the past week and did two days canoeing last Mon/Tues.
The hire places are busy, the guys we used say every boat is hired out until end of August now. 90% of paddlers though are doing single day (Ross - SY) or half day (Kerne Bridge to SY). That stretch of river is busy but everything up or down river from there is quiet. We paddled Hoarwithy to Ross and didn't see another boat all day.
