I've been a charcoal BBQ man for years, but keep hearing impressive things and versatility of a kamodo. Interested to hear from anyone that made the switch and if so what did you pay.
I can't justify more than £500
It's like two threads mixed up together. One asking for info on a BBQ and then some random price info on something else, perhaps a small car or a fitted kitchen.
😳
Struggling to understand your pointless reply.
After info and price for a Kamodo.
Never used one, but saw a cheap one in Morrisons - £350 or so and looked similar to the £1000+ ones...
I bought one from Costco at a very reasonable 550, same size green egg goes around 1200 or kamado joe at 1000.
Have it for 2 years sitting outside in the garden. No person in neighbourhood can match my BBQ status or expertise.
The thing is, Kamado cult didn’t pick up in UK due to the price of units ...
But, technically speaking BBQ Webber kettle + Tandoor oven = Kamado.
its very fuel efficient, moisture retention of meat is unparalleled and very easy to cook prime cuts of meat, as long as you know what temperatures to cook particular meats.
If you want to reach another level of BBQ manliness, definitely go for it. Then wear smug smile.
There is one thing to consider, if you want bbq for burgers or sausages ... forget about overspending on Kamado ... any bog standard bbq will do job. Kamado is all about finer cooking ... it can sear steaks at 400C or slowly cook and smoke meats for hours on a 1 handful of charcoals.
Kamado enthusiast here. I cook on mine 4 + nights a week all year round. As mentioned - you cannot get close to the quality of meat on a standard bbq. I also cook veg and lots of fish, naan bread. It is a very versatile charcole cooker. My gas Webber only gets use for bacon, sausage or burgers. A kamado is a charcole bbq that can be a bread oven , pizza oven, tandoori oven plus loads more. I have a kamado joe - around double your budget but worth every penny. More versatile than a big green egg.
Very timely thread, I’ve been thinking of looking at a Kamado style BBQ, like the Kamado Joe, or BGE - but am struggling to get past the price.
anyone who has one recommends them and the ability to use them all year round to cook outside reliablely is pretty cool. But at a grand plus - I’m struggling to be absolutely sure I need to splash that kind of cash - and I bbq quite a lot.
