Watched this on Netflix lastnight.
Fantastic film, but very very harsh. Started with really good squaddie banter then went bleak really fast.
Good to hear you liked it, great film. A mate of mine is one of the medics (the true life person, not just the actor).
Watched this last year and got totally absorbed by it , highly recommended . Utmost respect for the guys that went through that .
I'd never heard of this before. Just had a read up.
Respect and admiration for all of those who put themselves in harms way.
Sounds like one definitely to watch...although I can imagine there might be a bit of dust or the like floating about.
An immensely humbling film; don't think you can blame if for being harsh as it was only portraying reality?
Yeah, was more emotional at the end when they told you what the actual guys are doing now with a little photograph of them.
Massive respect for what all the forces did out there. Probably would have ended up in Iraq or Afganistan myself if I hadnt failed my medical.
Found it by accident last year and thoroughly enjoyed it. As above, very humbling.
A really good film..though I had to watch some bits from behind a cushion..
Excellent film!
I'd never heard of it - I don't think many people have - but I found it absolutely gripping. The tension it creates is phenomenal. I almost jumped out of my skin on more than one occasion.
As above, the ending - where they show the photos of the real life characters - is very poigniant.
I think it deserves wider recognition.
I just watched it on Netflix last week, or the week before. Had never heard of it before. Had to do some Googling about the story once it finished. I felt compelled to know more about it.
Yes, really liked this. Love a good British war film and this had some great quips in too... Laughed as much as I winced.
Fantastic. Saw it twice in a short stretch it was that good. Also Rated Very Highly by Her Sitting Next.
Also watched 'Untouchable' again tonight on iPlayer. Again - the endless and natural banter/chemistry between the lead characters is just sheer brilliance. Something Hollywood seem often to fail with, while European films often manage so effortlessly.
Anyway, it was ace. Watch it if you haven't. Dusty in here etc.
Frightening scenario to find yourselves in. Literally holding my breath hoping they wouldn't find another mine, including shouting "Nooooo" to the guy coming down from the helicopter!
Think I shouted FFS at the telly more than once.
Think I shouted FFS at the telly more than once.
Me and you both. RIP paratroopers. Every man an emperor.
awesome film.
I also watched this last night, actually found it a day before this thread, so well timed.
As others have said, gripping from start to finish with some "FFS!" moments.
All credit to who have been through similar.
Superb movie.
I had never heard of this before, read a bit about on the internet.
The Judge heavily criticised the MoD at the inquest.
Ken.........Barlow 😆
Watched that doing a turbo session. Didn't even notice the work, went by in a moment. Don't think I was breathing every time close up on a pair of boots. Tough film to watch. Beautifullly shot.
After this happened, training when you got out to theatre was really stepped up on mines and being in that situation. Hard lessons were learnt that day, but they certainly were.
Never heard of any of it but a quick Google has just made me realise what I'd missed. Amazing story about amazing people.
"If I don't make it back, tell your mother I love her."
A classic.
Watched it last night - gripping stuff I was shouting at the TV as well!
When you go out to theater you do a four day OPTAG course which keeps you up to date with CIED techniques amongst other things. You have to repeat it every six months to keep current. Those guys seemed to have very little CIED training and kit compared to what they would have had later.
I served in the Parachute Regiment and in that very same Platoon, I wasn't there tho, the Actual Blokes are very close friends of mine, I take it you have served Wrecker?
I noticed a few posts that you made re Smocks in another thread.
Every Man An Emporer. Kind of gave it away,
I've not watched it BTW, After hearing it first hand and knowing what happened it Gauls me a bit, in fact I can't watch any film about any of.
I take it you have served Wrecker?
Cabbage side (commando version of 9 sqn, so the mines thing was interesting for me).
Don't blame you for not watching it. It was difficult enough for me, and I didn't know any of them.
