I think this comes down to how individuals deal with the fight or flight reflex, I can't honestly say what I'd do (although I'd like to think I'd do something).

If I saw a serious crime being committed that I could not stop I would film it on my phone. That would provide potentially vital evidence to secure the conviction of the perpetrators it may even cause them to stop.
