I'm having some weight fluctuations that would appear to tie in with my use of some Boots multivits - which contain 30mg of Creatine.
Now, thats not a lot I can beleive its causing the issue... but is it?
These, FWIW http://www.boots.com/en/Boots-Complete-Man-30-tablets_1435051/
I'm not interested in the Multivitamin debate, so if you could post an answer to my question first then debate the rest later I'd be grateful 😀
How big and how frequent are the weight fluctuations?
+2lbs, and every 2-3 weeks - which coincides with a gap I had in taking them.
Most of the weight gain caused by creatine is water retention in the muscle so most people do experience a slight short term increase while using it (in addition to any long term increase in body weight caused by increased muscle mass).
That said, 30mg of creatine daily is not very much. I usually take 5g per day when using it and definitely do put on a kg or so quite quickly
I can fluctuate by +/- 2lbs on a daily basis.
Not a big enough gain to worry about IMO unless the trend is only upwards.
unless the trend is only upwards.
Well, yes...
When I took last took a look at research into the use of Creatine (which admittedly was a long time ago) taking it without doing regular exercise could result in weight gain (primarily through water retention).
This was 10+ years ago and I have probably misremembered what I read, so doing shoot me if I'm talking shit.
Yes I know that to be the case. I am regularly exercising (hard with HIIT Turbo & long road rides).
Its the amount I'm interested in. I would have thought 30mg would have resulted in that weight gain, so I'm seeking to ask if it can?
It can cause weight gain through water retention as described above, although I suspect the low dosage you are consuming will not have caused your weight gain.
It's a great supplement for explosive type exercise, so if you're not doing that sort of thing, I'd change the multivitamin.
IMO the best source of advice on supplements is examine.com
Is it related to your menstrual cycle?
A lot more than 30mg, Normal dosage (for lifting) is around 5-10 grammes per day.
Diabetes can cause weight gain........ ❗
Fatty
30mg would have no effect at all, more likely to be the cakes.
Hmm. I've dropped from 12' 4 to 11' 12 in 3 weeks following MFY, now suddendly I'm 11'13.5.
I wonder why.

This!
Why on earth are they even bothering putting creatine in a multivit?
For alertness alledgedly.
