One of the neighbors txt her cousin, who txt my missus an hour later having watched the ****s getting out of the van. She wasn't sure it was my van but thought it odd.

Smashed the small drivers side window to pull the central locking, got a planet and my dewalt radio charger, which the wife bought me for my 30th, gutted about that.

I don't keep anything valuable in it usually and leave it very messy with dust sheets and tarps all over the place. Been meaning to get deadlocks fitted for ages now.

Can't really drive it untill I get the window fixed as the tape I patched it with obscures the side mirror.

Got a partial reg plate and make, model and color of car they used, so something may come of it.

Really, really glad I didn't catch them in the act!

That's a real PITA when it happens. Whilst it's only "stuff" - the scrotes really get under my skin.

Still it's only stuff - and insurance should cover it if expensive - and the cost of the damage usually massively outweighs what they get away with.. Bastards.

Although it might actually be cheaper in the long run just paying it yourself.

Hopefully they get caught - they will probably keep going until they are.

Had my work van done a few years ago. They got a drill and flue gas analyzer which were my employer's, and left my tools.
The police caught the guy with the stuff, but could only charge him with handling. Got the stuff back though. Hopefully you'll be fortunate with yours.

It was suggested to me that "disguising" the van with some decals to make it look more of a leisure vehicle and less of a work van would make it less liable to break-ins. Obviously nothing that suggests expensive bike components though 🙂

Exactly the way I plan to sort my van out,Druid! Not one biking sticker on it whatsoever. Possibly a few graphics that look similar to the camera logo of mobile speed traps and a small blacked out window in the rear door.. not much else. :O)

What's worse (as pointed out) is that the damage and the cost of that damage, far outweights the actual value of the stuff stolen. They'll sell it for a tenth of it's real value.

So you spend say ten minutes breaking into a van and stealing something worth 100 quid and sell it for a tenner. You've already spent an hour or so figuring out you're going to break into a van and you spend a day or so stressing over getting caught.

So if we assume a day of effort to steal ten, maybe twenty quid's worth of return? DICK HEADS! They could pick their arse for a couple of hours in a dead end job and get back more than that.

*thats'* why they're unemployed and nicking stuff for a living, because they're ****wits.
