Just back from a week in Wales, walked down the garden and there's a fish on the path. Gills still going but not happy, looking a bit battered. So now it's an a bucket but I'm not a dab hand at fish vetting, so is there any po-tench-ial for it, or is the outlook a bit carp?

If you intend to keep it in that bucket, make sure you fillet with clean water

Well it's still alive but how it got there is a mystery. Maybe it's my mathematical background but I think it's got something to do with the Poisson distribution.

It might need an operation. Best call for a sturgeon.

Yes gfs it really happened. Turns out it was from a neighbour's pond which had the mesh pulled off. They've taken it back but don't think it'll pull through. Poor sole.

On a scale of 1-10, how bad was it?

You'll wake up shortly and it will have just been a bream.

A pond? Bit of a dab hand in the garden, your neighbour?

Scales missing and one fin tattered, but after a bit of bucket time it soon perched up.

It does all sound a bit suspicious; I'm going with attempted poissoning.

I recently found a pig's trotter in my garden...
I wish I was joking.
Oh, and a few weeks earlier, a pair of cooked chicken legs. My guess is that there's a moron on the street feeding foxes.
