Just finished watching band of brothers again after getting the bluray dead cheap from play.

Fantastic watch if you've never seen it before.

Watched all of The Wire, Alias, Dark Angel, etc. first time around. Too much new stuff around to sit re-watching old stuff.

Sounds like you've already watched the best TV fiction you're likely to come across - why not try expanding your mind with Carl Sagan's Cosmos?

Battlestar Galactica is excellent. Completely the opposite of what you think, less about sci fi and more about great characters and human life. Empire gave two of the seaons 5 stars.

The Corner (precursor to the Wire)
Generation Kill (same people as the Wire)
The Shield (Vic Mackey has got to be one of the best characters ever)
Deadwood (Sweary Lovejoy is a treat)
Battlestar Galactica (make sure you get the feature length intro)
Breaking Bad (just started it and it is ace)
Sopranos (the daddy of them all)

Got to agree with Mr Greedy -Watched Carl Sagans Cosmos recently and it is ace, a nice break before you get back to violence etc

Don't do The Shield right after The Wire, it is good but it'll suffer in comparison.

Mad Men if you haven't seen it. Even better than The Wire IMO.

Breaking Bad, Generation Kill and True Blood are on my list I think, seen the odd episode and all look good.

Battlestar Galactica and Dexter both disaapointing for me. BG is like The West Wing in space. Fine if you like heavy-handed political point-scoring, not brilliant as drama or sci-fi.

Firefly is great sci-fi. Only one series made but it was a cracker.

Got to be Generation Kill
Then 30 Rock

Then leave it 12 months and re-watch the Wire. I'm on series two second time round. It stands up very well to repeated viewing

I didn't get on with Generation Kill, I only watched the first 3 episodes but just thought none of the characters had any redeeming qualities that I could route for (just wanted to see the locals give em a spanking).

How about Shameless?

House?

I bought my wife The Wire series 1 for Christmas and I didn't quite get it at first but loving it now - just got the final episode to watch but keep putting it off because I don't want it to finish! (We don't have series 2 lined up yet).

30 Rock is all kinds of awesome - but a comedy not a drama

series 3 ended on comedy central on Monday night

So much to watch so little time - I'm only on season 3 of the wire and not seen hardly any of the above. I do like a good series to watch while travelling - an hour episode fits into european flights and train trips to London nicely.
