Is this a thing ? We have just had a summons through.

I'm struggling with this as sensible...

12 jurors all sat 2m apart would be fun in most the courts I have appeared in but I guess they are still doing something as I doubt the local crims get much from the furlough scheme

That was sorta my point. Having done it in the past each holding room would have a max capacity of 2 or there abouts

Remote dial in where possible ?

It's what I have to do for mandatory inspections on equipment unless it's physical NDT .....which seems mental but it's above board

I'd tell them to do one if I was you.

If I can't hang out with my mates because of transmission I'd want to see fairly strong evidence there is no chance of contracting it in a court room.

That said, I bet alot of jurors or their household members mysteriously develop a few symptoms a few days before the trial kicks off and can't attend..

Last summer they were using local cinemas with a video link to the court, so easy social distancing. Popcorn probably inappropriate.

If true then that's useful info at least practical to do so. But they don't mention any of this in their summons. All very strange.

My wife got one at the height of the first lockdown. She didnt want to do it so with 2 kids at home she called up and said she could not arrange any childcare (true). They just said ok and left it at that

Just got a jury citation for Paisley sheriff court, jury to go to Odeon at braehead and there will be a live link to the court room where the judge , defendant etc .... will be.

No mention of availability of popcorn or giant cokes

Mrs_H got called a few weeks ago after deferring last time.
She had to call the court to say she is staff nurse working in Covid HDU. Hopefully they've now taken her off the list now.

Got the letter yesterday. I live in Perth and Kinross, but have been summoned to Dundee. I’m assuming it’s a bigger court than Perth. Lived here 7 years and this is the 3rd citation. Turned down the second as it was only a year after the first. Wife has had no summons in the same time, but she is a fifer so maybe makes sense

I got the call up for the end of this month, it reads that you cannot simply refuse and need a very good reason. So even though it would leave us with child care issues whilst both sets of grandparents are shielding. I just agreed and will have to send the youngest into school even though we qualify as key workers we haven’t sent either daughter to school since day one.

I’m hoping we are in a very large separate room with lots of space but even then a full day in the same room isn’t ideal. They have suggested that we go for a test if available the week before. I’m sure they could have got hold of lateral flow tests and conducted a test in entry an hour before kick off on the first day and then every few days after that.

The summons is for my wife.

I don't get them anymore after they suggested I "simply" take the day off work to come in. I pointed out I was working in West Africa at the time the summons came through would they cover my expenses ?

Mrs Sandwicheater did it during the first lock down.

Was all sensible and well thought out.
