I'd like some new knitwear to keep off the chill while working from home (I'm too tight to keep the heating on all day). Frequent client Teams meetings require a smart/casual look so snuggling in a hoody and trackies isn't on.

And I can't go to Debenhams. And Fatface sale has only odd sizes available.

Suggestions?

Finisterre (even better in the sale)

Howies (not as good as they used to be but still okay)

i quite like isobaa

another one of the sports pursuit own brands (i think) but very nice. Some smarter than others. Obviously cheaper on SP, than their website

Howies are a bit hit and miss, I normally treat myself to one of their knits each winter, however the last couple have worn really poorly and covered in bobbles, some of my older jumpers look new in comparison

No-one seems to be holding much stock at present. Just looked at Finisterre and they have one jumper in a full range of sizes. Everything else is only available in XS or XXL. Same as Fatface. Frustrating, but I do feel for anyone in retail at present, the current situations must be crippling.

And Howies - pretty much everything sold out, one jumper in XS only, and another with a range of sizes but elbow patches

Joules can have some nice stuff and there are sales every 5 mins. Be aware the stock seems to change with the sales to, e.g. some lines disappear when the larger sales are on.

M&S Merino - luxury

For work jumpers Craghoppers outlet usually has something fairly inoffensive, warm and not too expensive.
For luxury work warmth I just bought a long sleeved merino polo shirt from M&S. It's work, work smart enough and when it gets shoddy will be fine as a base layer for outdoor wear or gardening. Not cheap at 40 quid but not a bad price for merino.

Pleasant real people you can talk to re. sizes. (We got our daughter the sheep one. It smells of sheep too, but in a good way.) That, or army surplus.

I am currently wearing one of these, which is pretty much the heaviest, warmest jumper I own. It's great.

Ah jumpers...isn't it. God how I miss wearing a jumper during the day. But I've got a woman now so everything's boiling hot.

I like my old vintage stuff, I fancy one from 'Pike Brothers' I'd have to start living in my garage though.

I've been thinking of getting a submariner jumper. They look proper warm. Anyone know a decent place to buy from?

Try these: Rapanui
Their fisherman's jumper is nice and warm although the cuffs are tight enough to not be able to pull up to your elbows if you're doing the washing up - if that's something that bothers you.

It is wonderful.

Christmas 2020 I recieved a jumper from here Himal

It too is wonderful and I absolutely love it- in fact I'm wearing it now. It also smells of yak. Not so good tbh, but a conversation starter. The aroma is rapidly fading.

+1 for Rapunui.

not had the fishing jumper but had a few of the organic cotton jumpers, hoody's and t-shirts. also have a few of the flannel shirts. im a big fan of their wares (except the printed stuff) loads of socks too. plus a beanie which i cant wear coz it crushes my skull!

they also bollock on about their sustainable ethos, clobber is posted in recycled paper bags etc.

Finisterre are good especially if you want to look like you're about to jump on tiktok and do a sea shanty. Wolsey and Ted Baker do some decent ones as well which are worth picking up in their sales.

Try a thin merino jumper under a flannel shirt.

I got one from Next. Couldn't tell you the range but it is very very warm, and old now that areas have about turned to felt.
Even in winter cycling I wouldn't wear it as I'd arrive looking like i was in a sauna.
