Ok fight fans, how do you see this going, Joshua for me, inexperienced but will have too much power for Klitchko. I think age will catch up with Klitchko.

Reckon Wlad is shot offensively and Joshua will comfortably prevail. I think he could blast him out but will have too much respect and a late stoppage more likely.

I had thought Fury gave a masterful performance against Wlad, but I suspect this fight might force a re-assessment there, in comparison.

that basically

AJ is the future Wlad is the past

Will still be interesting but i dont think the later has a KO punch to challenge AJ

We all agreed at work it will be a bore fest though and a tactical affair but all agreed AJ wins

Its a real hard one to call. Joshua is big and powerful, but very one dimensional. He has looked good going forward so far ... but his opponents have all been very much there to lose.
Wlad is also big and powerful, and most definitely has the punch to KO Joshua, but can slip into a rut of negativity. Maybe he thought he would get the nod from the judges against Fury, so didn`t really feel the need do something desperate - or maybe he really had gotten old.

I am going with Wlad; I am hoping he isnt as old/bad as what Fury made him look; he has too much experience for a novice like Joshua; that he shows as much confidence in the ring as he has by actively going after this fight instead of going after an easier belt holder.

Anthony Joshua to win due to age gap as he is young.

Wladimir Klitschko has passed his prime so has to fight tactically.

If Wladimir was younger he would win.

... so boxing tactically is not a good thing?

I think you will find every successful boxer will have a tactic before a fight ... its pretty well known as being a pretty crucial thing to do.

The problem with tactics is not having a couple other ones just incase the first one is not working; another problem with them is not being able to stick to them ... age can sometimes be a factor in this. Sometimes a young boxer will get hot headed and neglect them - other times an old fighter will find he is simply physically unable to adhere to them.

But fighting tactically - has never been - a bad thing.

Both of them are tactically sound but Joshua has more energy/speed.

Most of the KO Joshua had were older boxer so Wladimir needs to box to his best.

Wladimir will just have to rely more on his experience.

I reckon one will be KO at round 8.

Klitschko will win this as he has too much experience and has learned for the loss to Fury. AJ reminds me of Frank Bruno in that he is overly muscular and does not move with any fluidity.

Having seen how much trouble Dillion White caused Joshua I have to say my money is on Klitchko to prove too much of a step up in class for him . although Joshua can change the course of any fight with one big punch.

Joshua has never demonstrated anything other than the most basic tactics - he has never needed to; the guys he has faced were there to be knocked over. But thats not to say he cant fight tactically - we simply dont know.

Wlad can - thats often his problem, he fights too tactically at times and stinks the place out.

Joshua certainly is no speed merchant. The Bruno comparison is one that has been made many many times ... for good reasons.

A big concern is that the fight is over here. The UK has a pretty bad reputation for home town decisions, so a close fight could result in a wide points win for Joshua ... could that be significant in the last 3 rnds??

[preachy interjection]

I like Wlad because he is Ukrainian, and between him and his brother, stood up against Putin's puppets alongside the Ukrainian people during Euromaidan.

He may or may not be at a disadvantage due to age, but I will be cheering him on regardless.

If Wladimir Klitschko was in his prime he would win no question about that but now the possibility of him winning now is lower but that does not mean he cannot win. He just has to work harder ...

The only clean punch Joshua has been hit with in his career wobbled him and if wlad get his jab going and remembers he's in a boxing match and actually punches now and again it may be a long night for Joshua, think Joshua will win tho as he has the youth but this is two big guys punching each other and anything can happen.

Joshua did change his style for the last fight with Rob in his corner. I think it maybe a technical KO with another win for AJ. He needs to get behind the jab and move which is easier said than done. Wlad will want to draw AJ in and hit and tie him up ( I cant see old dog new tricks).

Wlad is trying to gear himself up seeing there is a lack of trash talk with his #obsessed and #failureisnotanoption but he doesnt need to tell us what he needs to do rather than show it in the ring ( which i dont think it will happen. He still hasnt worked out how tyson beat him)

Great night on saturday either way

At the minute there is something about joshua that reminds me of bruno. Big, powerful and muscular. (I would like to know what he eats to get that physique!! 😉

Im unsure of his stamina and punch resistance. Is wladamir past it? I suspect so.

Still 50/50 for me.

Joshua for me in 5 or under, Klitschko won't be able to handle his speed or his power. Looking at Klitschko's record he's not beaten anyone decent in years. This is his last big fight methinks.

This is his last big fight methinks.

If he listens to his brother it sure will be. Vitaly has told him to win or else hang up the gloves.

Win or lose, it is likely he will hang them up; a win is just to cement his legacy (regardless how you view his career).

The referee will be hugely significant in this fight: not allowing Wlad to grab after every punch favours Joshua. If he is allowed to use those tactics - he KO's Joshua with the left hook.

Joshua is too predictable to confuse Wlad as Fury did.

Gotta be Joshua. Young and hungry. Great jab that'll get past Klitschko's flailing arms. Eventually he'll land the powerful shots that'll make the old fella quit. I've seen moments in AJ fights where he's clearly more than a Bruno resurrection, easy comparison to make, but I think he's better than that. Need to see him in with Wilder to see what he's really got.
Or Joseph Parker - now there's a Frank Bruno!

Has wilder got a fight lined up? if he is serious he should already be negotiating with parker now the fury fight doesn't seem to be happening, wilder has had lots of fights and his resume seems pretty poor, parker seems to only want to defend in N.Z though, wilder should offer him a fortune to come to alabama if he is serious.

As much as I want to watch this fight I'm not podding out 20 quid for the pleasure of doing so. Box office is becoming a rip off too!

It must be hard to accurately aim at AJ's tiny pin head. A genuine freakish advantage.

Klitschko's been beaten four times already and AJ has a MONSTER right hand. It will be over by round 5.

Seems Joshua has come in heavy for this one, WK looking lean.. Hopefully gonna be a good fight.. Be good to see AJ's chin tested, as well as what WK has got left in the tank..

AJ is currently 1.44 at bookies, WK is 3.25

What's all this talk of 'buying box office'? I didn't think anybody paid for TV nowadays? I'm sure Google will help you find a channel watch it on.

Yes - sounds a bit extravagant paying for it!

AJ 10lbs heavier - looks like he planning on jumping on Wlad early then.

Seeing them at the weigh in, it appears one of them isnt the 66" as claimed.

I`ll go with the under-dog. Wlad TKO5

Klitschko struggles with awkward unconventional types who are as tall or taller. Sanders couldn't miss with the straight left, Fury's feints, awkwardness and size for example

AJ too conventional and even his promoter is saying its come too early for him.

I think AJ has come in a bit heavy, and is gambling on the early KO.. we don't know his stamina yet, carrying an extra stone or so of muscle will not help.. WK coming in light wants to outbox him, stay mobile and take it into the later rounds.. be interesting how this turns out, either a Calzaghe/Lacy boxing masterclass from WK (points) where the young powerful guy gets schooled, or AJ will have him out early to mid IMO.

Still think this can go either way.

Joshua is young, strong and punches hard. Still question marks over his stamina and defence and can he take a punch?

Klitscho had seen it all before. Strong, and proven can go 12 rounds. At 41 though can he still mix it at elite level. Tyson Fury was an awkward boxer who got on his bike for 12 rounds. Klitschco deals better with boxers in his face. Joshua will not run like fury did.

Difficult one to predict. Either Joshua early stoppage or klitschco maybe late stoppage or points.

Whatever the result it is very refreshing to have a build up of mostly respect, praise and professionalism. I've got a lot of time for both boxers and the way they have gone about their careers (and the things they have done outside of their boxing) so in a way I'm not bothered.

^^^ WHS. I kind of do and don't see the Bruno comparison, both big well-defined blokes who box in a conventional style, but AJ is a lot quicker, has an efficiency and economy about his movement. Fair play for taking this fight, would have been much easier to grab some cash and biff a few mugs beforehand.

I can understand why Wlad is getting written off after the Fury fight - but citing his age as a reason I dont really buy ... Wlad has always been a clean living athlete. Despite his large number of fights,he hasn`t had a hard career ... so 41 isnt that old.

But agree - this is a difficult one to call, and there is valid reasons for either guy at this moment. I just taking a gamble that the Fury fight & result was a case of Wlad underestimating Fury, and Fury just having an awkward style to take advantage of that.
Joshua hasnt fought anybody even close to Wlad`s level; and whilst he is big and strong ... he doesnt really do anything you could regard as special.

I'm going out to find a beverage establishment to watch it.

I'm not sure which way it goes, Joshua KO early rounds or wlad on points seem the 2 most likely outcomes

He seemed like he backed off after he flattened Joshua - should have piled on the pressure/punches whilst he was still dazed.

I quite like Klitschko - I was rather disappointed actually to seem him lose.
