The whole tale's been very sad indeed. I saw him play out Sprotson Green at the end of the Brum gig in 2010, not long after he'd collapsed (at a previous gig in the same tour) & been diagnosed. The crowd were absolutely wild about him coming on-stage given what he'd just started to deal with.

My thoughts go out to his wife, three young children and the rest of the band. Rest in peace Jon!

I grew up listening to the charlatans. Some Friendly was the soundtrack of my youth! Still one of my favorite albums of all time, reminds me of a time when things seemed much more fun....

and this....

Very sad news and a reminder to live life to the full.
