Will be interesting to see how this plays out.

Hmmm.....

Saw that earlier. In my biased world view I tend to expect tory politicians to be the sleazy/corrupt ones but that's ridiculously naive of me.

Who'd have thought he wasn't on the level?

It'll be interesting if someone, rightly, draws comparisons between him and Robert 'Honest Bob' Jenrick and his conduct....

Indeed but it must be said, if there were a league table for such stuff, the Tories would be world beating.😁

Nothing proven - yet - so any attempt to draw a comparison with jenrick is spurious.

Indeed: Anderson has been arrested and Jenrick hasn't.

Anything Anderson may have attempted to do pales into significance compared to what jenrick did.
jenrick unlawfully approved richard desmond's westferry scheme to facilitate the avoidance of a £45 million community infrastructure levy which would have directly benefitted Tower Hamlets and its residents.
So jenrick was perfectly comfortable about dirty des crapping on a local authority and
only reversed his decision because of the publicity it received.
When the police conclude their investigations into Anderson we'll be better placed to make any comparisons.

You said they shouldn't be compared, and I was agreeing with you.

From memory, Private Eye have had this in “Rotten Boroughs” for a few months.

Plenty more in Liverpool being naughty it seems. This has been rumbling on for a year now. Now, what's unusual about keeping £300k under the mattress? Liverpool Echo

To be fair, pretty much every council/councillor I've dealt with seems to have been linked to dodgy property deals, regardless of party.

Sadly, these positions often attract greedy opportunists ,but hey,we get who (if we can be arsed) vote for.

Traditionally Tories downfall came about because of sex scandals, Labour because of financial.

Having worked in Liverpool for the last 25 years I would be very surprised if anyone there was shocked that Old Chippytits had been arrested 😀

“Hello is that Yanni’s chippy? Hurry up will you love, I’ve only got one phone call”

Neither the Torys or Labour has the high ground on morality - both have been guilty of questionable behaviour in the past.

I mean - politicians - what do you expect??

I know what we hope for....

Nope a crook is a crook, just the same as a gammony troll is a gammony troll.

We'll see how it plays out. But remember that Jenrick admitted to acting illegally and kept his job. Anderson has been suspended. At least Starmer hasn't been backed into a corner and effectively been reduced to a 'top team' selected purely because of their allegiance to a cretinous project like Brexit.

🙊

Edit: I'll just add that the joke has always been on the type of person who believes in something like Brexit. Always has been, always will be. Nothing will ever change that.

Nah, they're amateurs compared to the Spanish. And from both sides, although the (right wing) Popular Party are the current leaders when it comes to corruption.

Don't be such a prick. You know nothing about me so ram your assumptions up your arse.

Racist to boot.

Trust me it's water off a ducks back, but perhaps you need to also grow a sense of humour.
This place depresses sometimes with the incessant blind dogma and need to be an echo chamber .

And a racial slur is a racial slur.

This is just good old-fashioned criminality (allegedly) - the Robert Jenrick thing is arguably more sinister because the benefit is harder to define.

As above, I believe I've been reading bits and bobs about him in Private Eye for months.

Time to dig out my old copies of Private Eye.
I'm more interested in how Elliot Lawless, the property developer involved in this, achieved prominence; he chairs Elliot International Group - formerly Elliot Group - and they are developing 20 sites across the UK with a development value > £1 billion.
The business doesn't appear to have much of a back story in that it doesn't appear to be a long established business going back decades or generations.
He's in his early 30's and if he's got to where he is without family backing or inheritance or fraud and/or bribery and/or corruption I say...well done and would then ask how he's done it.

Old chippy Tits is totally guilty, just depends on how well he’s hidden it all. The Lobster pot profits must be plummeting.
