Applied for a job as a field engineer with Openreach.

Anything else similar that anyone could recommend?

Field-based technical types roles are what I'm after now having done some reflection on the matter.

There must be 100s all linked. MoT testing equipment calibration engineer etc

Manchester/Cheshire
I'm ok going up a ladder a couple of stories but not sure about hanging off a tall building by a rope 😀
I used to work in oil and gas as a field engineer so have some practical engineering types skills along with BSc in Geology and MSc in Building Surveying. I don't want to work as a building surveyor, however. I'm much happier in a pair of coveralls than a suit 😀

The uk needs sign fitters! Maybe not technical enough for you though.

Our company is looking for riggers, but I think you might find it a bit dull we work on mobile telecoms sites. O2+VF
I do more of the electrical and air conditioning stuff along with the fabric side of things.

Very last entry on that list.

Historically we had "Voice" and "Data" teams and it is terminology which doggedly persists today despite it being largely meaningless outside of our organisation. "Data" usually implies anything that isn't Voice.

I expect that role will largely be Cisco-centric. It doesn't look to be field-based but it's reasonably local and you'll almost certainly be able to WFH. I know that it's not exactly what you said you're looking for but, eh, suck it up for six months, you'll likely learn lots and I'll get a kickback so everyone's a winner.
