Ok; so I am up for a promoted post that involves team leadership and various groups answering to me on a development project. I have spent most of the weekend working on how I would motivate the various teams that answer to me. Comes down to support and supervision of teams working towards a clear goal, which is the main thrust of how I would hope the team works. Any other angles I should cover? I have obviously been over the job spec a hundred times.
TBH I am really looking for people to tell me the same thing I have been covering as I have not been in an interview for seven years and am bricking it.
I work in Education

Can't really argue with that.
best answer I have ever heard to the 'how would you motivate a team that has large amounts of work to do and no obvious let up visible in fugure?' question was short and to the point.
"Take them to the pub and buy the drinks".
elaboration was that you need to show the team that you appreciate their contribution, and that you are going to pull together to get stuff done. The people working for you are human, and £20 spent on drinks can gain you a lot of good feeling which will save £1000s in schedule slip.
Keep it simple, show the interviewers that you understand people and are someone who people will work effectively with and for.
Dave
edit: I work in software... not sure how this translates to education; but it is a good general approach to leadership.
No help on interview technique duckie. Been out of that game for too long. But good luck. 🙂
Best of luck fella fro me and mrs tr - know how much of a chode education interviews can be of late
Other good things to say are to be honest at all times with your team and build trust & loyalty.
Don't just think about what you would do, thank about why you would do it.
good luck.
Communication - people need to know what they're doing and how well they're doing it
So.... where do you see yourself in five years?
Good luck with it!! 😀
just memorise a few of the phrases from here and you'll be fine.

Why not be honest and say this is the one area you don't have experience of,(they will know that from your CV) but at least you are willing to learn what's necessary, ask for support and guidance and you are not just going to turn into some big insecure arrogant shouty monster. Not yet, anyway.
Why not be honest
because he wants the job
is he back yet?
how did the interview go?
It went well, They are interviewing more in Jan. Being a public service job it would appear that some folk found it inconvenient to attend an interview the week before xmas 🙄 Still; managed to get across what I wanted (and what they wanted to hear)however...I REALLY like the day to day adventure that is classroom teaching,so don't know how fussed I would be if I don't get one of the posts (Safe in t' knowledge they don't read STW)
Thanks for all the input folks. Stuart
