Fill in an application process for a bit of dream job... struck a few issues:
Application goes through a major job site only, make CV in PDF form and fill in covering letter. Apply. Account created on the employers website, application process started.
This is where the fun begins. Transferral from previous site has lost covering letter and demolished the CV formatting so it makes no sense - sentences half pasted into each other etc. So I fill in all the info boxes on the application page (with the info that's already in the CV) and modify the whole thing to be correct, if in plain text now (why ask for PDF then mash it?!). Hit "save" and return 10 minutes later. Modifcations lost, formatting returned to demolished version. Change browsers, just in case, change it all again, fill in additional boxes that don't seem to make sense if you have asked for a CV to be uploaded as they're duplications, click on to next page. Next page asks questions related to another advertised job, not the one I'm applying for, and I click back to check I've definitely applied for the right job. Changes demolished again. GOD DAMNIT. Check rest of application system, can upload a CV and covering letter, none are listed for this applications - do so, again. Continue with process, same gobbledygook spread throughout application. Look for a contact phone number - nope, not single one on the whole site. Contact email, sure, but that's only for general contact and don't guarantee a reply.
So, no idea what to do. Apply and hope it doesn't all get trashed without me knowing. Not apply, wait for contact and lose chance to apply. I went to delete the application and start again but it warns me that if you do that you can't re-apply to the same position.
(&*($%*&£$*%&"(&"£!"£ how the hell am I meant to do this?! I even phoned the original job site who tell me they can't do anything as it's off their servers.
I need a beer.
In the same boat, by eck job hunting has changed, had an issue with a retailers website wanting me to copy and paste my CV every time I did it it killed it, then there's the employers websites that take about three hours to answer all the questions just so they can psychometric ally test you then match your answers to specific competencies then there's joining all the recruitment sites , I have lost the will to live
Can't help but think it's a filter process to see if you can really be arsed at all!
I abhor application forms especially online ones that crash and lose your information. I'd try emailing the employer to highlight your problems as I am sure they probably don't know about it being an arse.
