You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Anyone been doing this for a while? How do you find it? What is your routine? Any links to websites worth reading up on?
And finally anyone know of the lightest/quietest jigsaw? My makita is a two hand job and too noises to use when kids are in bed
just me then!?
I have no idea what you're talking about and, being at work, no intention of googling the phrase "jigsaw massagerists"...
I was using a reciprocating saw for a while, but it was too much, the saw I had was a bit too heavy and cumbersome without enough control. I do intend to get a jigsaw instead at some point.

Do it....
I've found mine to be excellent.
I've had issues around my right knee for a while and had improved it a lot with stretching and balancing the muscles more, but still some niggly pain and dullness across the top of the kneecap remained.
With the jigsaw I was able to 'explore' and compare the legs and in particular the area behind the knee, as the stronger vibrations (compared to the other massage tool I have) showed up differences.
In particular I found a lot of pain deep behind the knee in the area that is probably the bicep fermoris.
After some work in that area the pain in my knee was an enhanced version of the niggle it was before so I knew I was on the right track. Yet more work then rest and the painful area went.
I now need to work out something to clamp my feet down so I can do some exercises that target that area, otherwise the pain starts to come back. I keep getting sore spots in the muscles on the right leg for some reason, been happening for a couple of years.
I initially tried it with a cordless Dewalt jigsaw but that was a bit too big, so I bought one of these 12V Bosch Professional jigsaws as I already had other things that use the same batteries :

It is much more manageable and the speed is adjustable with a wheel at the back instead of with the pressure on the trigger, which is better for massage where you are moving it around.
PLus too much computer work was giving me issues in the right arm and shoulder, but with this I have been able to beat those out as well, then use my macebell to aid recovery.
Easily saved the cost of the jigsaw and tools so far compared to having to go see a massage therapist.
I might go to a physio for advice on the exercises for my knee.
I’m interested in this.
Are people getting custom made attachments or is their a supplier? Any guides to the modification required please?

Just search on amazon or ebay for "jigsaw massage adapter"
A dial on the back fo speed would be very useful my makita is trigger based.
Are you just prodding around looking for trigger points or do you follow a method?

these are the ones I have, although it says unavalable at the moment :

there are other sets on Amazon like them though.

You paid £160 for a jigsaw specifically for use as a massage unit?
Surely buying an actual massager would have been a better idea, I know the Theragun, Pulse and Hyperice guns are pricey but I've heard good things about the Phoenix A2.
Can pick one up on eBay for about £60-70!
I know nothing about jigsaw massagering, but I also feel I’d probably _not_ want to use a second-hand power massager of any kind 😱
No? I already had some Bosch drills that used the same batteries so only had to buy the jigsaw body.
Heard reports of theraguns burning out so I reckon my Bosch professional is more robust, plus I can always build wooden stuff with it...
Prodding around really although I have some areas that repeatedly go bad.
There must be a root problem somewhere, just haven't found it yet, but finding the bicep femoris bit was good as it explained three last bit of all the niggly pains.

Ps also an amazing read!
To bring this back up a friend of mine has got a discount code for the Pulseroll guns to get 25% off if anyone fancies splashing out.
Brings the price down from £200-£150 and Pulseroll stuff is really good quality kit, the vibrating foam rollers are excellent!
Code is kerrie25 but only runs till Saturday
Fantastic! A STW thread introducing me to someting most excellent which I'd never heard of before, without leading me to spend a fortune!
I already own a recip saw and jigsaw for work. My quads were sore this morning from running down a hill, and normally that means they will be even worse tomorrow.
I remembered this thread, so went out to the shed and broke out the Polymorph, chopped the end of a knackered blade, and squished it all together.
It works a treat, my legs feel much fresher after a session. Here's Mrs BM getting some glute action 🙂
