The previous owner of our house had a love affair with the giardia brown fence stain which has been liberally applied on a number of fence panels, posts and a gate. It quite literally looks like shit.
The obvious solution is to repaint a different colour, however there are some areas where it has weathered off and I'm wondering if a jet washer may remove it. The problem is I don't own one, I always hire. But before I do I'm wondering if anyone has tried jet washing a fence and how did it work out?
It will work brilliantly, but only in places. Elsewhere you will get swirly clear bits and stubborn brown stains. You will also destroy any slightly damaged bits of fence.
I would suggest you don't do it. You can hire a fence paint sprayer so that you still get all the fun of spraying but you also get a freshly painted, still standing, fence the colour of your choice.
Ah yes, this was my fear WCA, thanks for reminding me
Get a low pressure paint sprayer from wagner and forget jet washing it.
I washed mine, worked a treat but I was painting it again.
Just remember to make sure the neighbours car/washing/cat/child is downwind when you start spraying.
Mr Myagi wouldn't approve of the jet wash approach I feel.
Very important point to make sure you don't inadvertently spray your neighbours and things!
I spend ages sanding wood work and stuff in a campervan I was doing out on a terraced street. Finished and turned round to see a whole street of cars that I then had to wash as they were covered in fine wood sanding powder 😭
But atleast I could wash them 😂
