As an older gent who is not quite ready for slacks with elasticated waist bands or jeans that show one's butt crack off where do we by our jeans from ?

Levi's have a wide range of styles - usually cheaper from a franchise in a Dept Store than a Levi shop.

Next if being lazy as I don't have to go into town

Tbh this really shows my age but M&S. Not old man, loads of different styles and they actually fit properly. I'm only 46 FFS...

Howies. Not cheap but super comfy and seem to last forever. Also fit is absolutely perfect from my perspective meaning I can mail order without hassle.

Hiut.

Expensive, but I’ve worn my pair most days for the last 4 years and they get better with age. Actually make themselves what they sell.

Next. They seem to last years, and they fit me.

Though I do use a staff discount card, too.

Timberland. Plenty of choice in cuts and come in 1" size increments.

They're a bit more ethical than most if that matters to you.

I was going to say M&S but the pair I bought in Feb died the other day and I've been wearing shorts 100% between May and October.
So they lasted 4 months 😣

The crotch is starting to wear out on mine after roughly a year. Probably eight months of wear.

Uniqlo. They do styles to suit/fit pretty much anyone, in a range of different denim, from stretchy, prewashec through to proper, unwashed Japanese Selvedge straight leg, which is near as dammit original 501 fit. Around £35/pair. Actually slightly more, my last two pairs that I bought came to £75.
As I wear shorts most of the year, and various cargo/ex-military combats when it gets too cold for shorts, my denims last for decades.

Anyone who suggests that anyone over a certain age should stop wearing denim jeans can send their letters of complaint to The Daily Mail/GQ Magazine/Piers Morgan.

Got a pair last week.

£22.50 from Tesco, and that included a belt.

Not had any Howies jeans for a while.

Most recent pairs have been Brave Star. https://bravestarselvage.com/collections/selvedge-denim-jeans

Super cheap ones? Concerned about the slavery and environmental challenges.

I bought some G6 jeans from hebtroco recently and they are great. Apart from a suit for a wedding they are the first pair of trousers I have purchased since 2019 so it is not a great annual cost. Also I would say that I had the best customer service from Brant sorting out a sizing issue. My next pair of trousers will be bought from them

If that’s because I laughed at your post it was the Alan Partridge presentation  Jeans & Belt combination set rather than how much you paid for them. I’ve bought supermarket clothes. I buy charity shop clothes.

Those True Brave selvedge jeans - $158 = £134, + plus probably half as much again for postage.
Thanks, but I’ll stick with the Uniqlo Japanese selvedge, probably comes from the same mill in Japan anyway, they bought all the looms from the American companies and now sell the denim back to the American companies.

Primark. Straight leg in a dark stretch denim. The ones without any stitching on the back pockets. £10 and last for years.

Usually Levi’s when there’s a sale on and I adopt a no wash strategy (within reason) so they last ages - just bought some hiut selvedge after getting a small bonus - let’s see if they last as long as the Levi’s.

Slight hijack, but where does one go for the jeans that show your butt crack. I was thinking of attending some niche social events and thought I should dress to fit in.

🤣 Ok Grandad!

Didn't we have a 'what jeans' thread a week ago or something? Anyway; Uniqlo for a wide variety of styles and materials, plus free alterations ftw! Perhaps Levis for a little bit more quality. Most of the 'designer' brands are cheap stuff made in China anyway. Those Hiut look interesting; I might have to try some.

Edit: How much?? Perhaps not...

Fatface are my go to ones at the moment. If you're not in a rush there's often a sale on for them being 30-50% off

I used to go through cheap jeans at a rate of knots. I've now two pairs of Alec Steele Co 01-g1's, which are seriously hard wearing. I've worn either one or the other pair every day for approx 2 and half years and they are both still going strong. Best bit of YouTube 'merch' I've bought. Expensive though in comparison to Primark, but I've always seen Primarni as disposable clothing.
