Not impressed with his set this morning, sounds like it was cued up using Acid Pro or Atomix. Now, DJ Craze - that's genius.

5:40 in this...

That was a great way to start the day Retro, thanks for that. Never seen a DJ working like that before, amazing to watch and brilliant skills!

What's that 'scratch' pad (?) thing (in between the two turntables) he's using to create all those cool sounds??

I have the same disc as Matt, and while it is certainly impressive from the technological/digging in the crates side of things, I can't help feel it's a bit soul-less when compared to the likes of Coldcut's 80 minutes of Madness, Yoda's How to Cut and Paste series, Solid Steel's radio shows and even that Dirtchamber mix Liam Howlett put out ages ago.

Oh and turntabilism will always kill cut and paste...its just more fun!

One of my favs...Scratch Bastid:

It's a great set. What do you mean by the scratch pad? The mixer? If so, there are no effects as such, just faders (volume) and equalisers. The echos, pitch changes etc are all done by manipulating the turn tables and the faders. 😯

Quality album.

DJ Yoda's 80's edition is worth a specific listen - very good and amusing

Inspired by the Coldcut mix mentioned above, charts the history of Ninja Tune:

(The 'buy' link's busted on there, so if anyone interested HERE. Cheap too.

Coldcut's 80 minutes of Madness is just awesome. Still sounds fresh today. You can get some great Steinski mixes from www.steinski.com and the 'Rough Mix' that comes with "What Does It All Mean" is great.

Jag Skills is good but I've tired pretty quickly of most of the mixes I've picked up.

A different aesthetic but the Girl Talk albums are really impressive.

DezB - thanks for that tip. I still don't understand download pricing. £4 posted on disc, possibly with free poster, and the mp3 download OR £4 just for the mp3 download???

I'm a big fan of turntablists and mashups. I saw cut la roc play at Portsmouth SU in 2002 to a 2/3 empty room but those who stayed loved every minute. 2manyDJs are pretty good too.

I've got some old mixes i did at home on minidisc - i must remember to buy a cheap player so i can listen again.

Oh, and don't forget it is Pete Tong's 12 hour marathon tonight.

KORG KAOS Pad? Can't see the video so only guessing, basicly its every effect you can imagine designated as the x or y axis on the pad, move fingers arround pad to create some wierd sounds/effects.
