I think you're going to have to up your game sunshine, some tough competition at the moment....

I don't think so, actually.

Most of the full-time trolls on here are just so obvious.

No class, no quality.

Nothing remotely in the league of asking where one can procure a 33 tooth narrow/wide (genius). That one actually got a few people and was one of the best.

The mark of a classy troll is not the offense or exasperation through sheer monotony that seems to pass muster on here now.

The mark of a classy troll is the number of people who make at least three increasingly strident posts before having an "oh........bollocks" moment.

Indefensible both the content of the link [ criminal IMHO IANAL] flashy and the fact that this is how you address an issue on a Tory

Obviously you will be equally critically of Tory and not just do pointless whatabouterry

Anyway back on topic, having just watched him on NN, what a smarmy condescending git. Though I did enjoy his admission that the talks might go badly and leave people wishing they'd made plans - a scenario of apparently equal weight to it going well...

I'm just surprised flashy hasn't posted a whataboutery link on Islam given that Mogg's particular brand of Christianity was being slagged off earlier.

So I think that reinforces that whilst some of his votes are at the behest of the whip, others are governed by his faith. I can't find any reason not to respect that.

Even when they support illegal discrimination based on which adults they find sexually attractive and have sex with...? You cannot be serious?

You were talking about respect. I see no reason to respect someone whose opinions I find abhorrent, and palming [s]off to[/s] in the church is a normal behaviour.

Thing is hes talking his usual shite about heathrow noise

while Windsor & Eton are still above WHO limits of 55db the difference between the outer areas and the inner ones are huge (ive lived in both)

Go really close & its unbearable, when the noise is so loud that you have to pause your conversation, (every 90 seconds) it really isnt a nice way to live

[img] [/img]

as someone whos baby woke up every morning at 5-30 with the 1st flight of the day I can assure you that its not something you 'get used to'

the effects are real

Out of curiosity, did you choose to live there before or after the airport was built?

Rees Mogg is a classic upper class twit. He took his nanny with him when canvassing and said " doesn't everyone have one" when questioned on this

One of the things I like about him most is that he seems completely at ease with his personal wealth, success and privilege. Rather than try to appear "down with the proles" whilst sneaking back to his gilded manor house after work, he's completely up-front about it and even lampoons his own lifestyle. He's not rubbing anyone's nose in it, the "nanny" has worked for his family for over 50 years and is probably far more than simply a member of staff. Most MPs recruit the help of family and friends when canvassing so its hardly a scandal!

Was it Klunk who posted the "he has some nice friends" comment? I think he comes out of that rather well! He was tipped off an hour before an event that the host had some unsavoury views, but he chose to fulfil his promise to attend and then politely put the host in his place! I doubt there are many of the STW lefty hand-wringing bedwetters who would have the charisma, clarity of thought and balls to do that.

Funnily enough im not older than Heathrow !

I lived there coz it's cheap! And choose enough that wife and i could both get to work, just Like the millions of other people that live close to the airport.

We weren't even that close either, parts of Hounslow are truly blighted by the M4, A4 & airport, as I posted above it has a negative effect on health, mental & physical and educational attainment.

Not that a BSer like Moog gives a shit, no matter how much he tries to infer hes down wif da staines maassiv 😉

Well, I think you've inadvertently hit the nail on the head. You found an area that you could afford, at a distance from work that you feel is reasonable. The downside is the noise from the airport.

You could of course have bought somewhere quieter, had you been a little better off. Or if you'd been prepared to travel further to work.

So really, the airport is a huge benefit in this case as it allows lazy poor people to buy homes they can afford.

No he really doesn't come out of it well,

Points for trying to make him out as a liberal hero , when he himself said it was 'very silly' to attend, yet he did, despite warnings the day before.

Just your standard , lying, homophobe, bigoted brexiter imho !

When kimbers says cheap, 2up/2down Victorian terrace houses 2 miles closer to Heathrow than where he lived are currently going for £650,000+. So, yes, lazy poor people's houses.

We have a similar thing in the area in which I live. People move to the area to take advantage of the perceived benefits, but then try to change everyone else's way of life because certain aspects of rural life don't fit in with their ideals. We've even had people complaining to environmental health about the smell when farmers are muck-spreading, or noise at haymaking time.

If you buy a house beneath an airport's flight path, and you pay a reduced price because of it, you can't really expect sympathy when you decide you don't like the noise!

Calling people Tory Scum is OK. Calling people Lazy is not ? Fact is both are unacceptable but only one is called out here.

We need more airport capacity nationally, Heathrow, Gatwick, Manchester, Birmingham as a minimum.

House prices are a bit like bike prices. Large, cheap, desirable... pick 2. At most.

Jamba raises a good point. STW is home to the most prejudicial bigots I ever come across. But because they choose to apply their prejudices against those more wealthy or privileged, they somehow feel that they're better than other bigots.

Personally, I'm not exactly wealthy or privileged, but I don't let those lucky enough to have either of those things get under my skin! I recognise their good fortune or hard work and pray that Lady Luck or my own endeavours bear as much fruit for me in the future.

Not really I can't work out where the venom comes from, people seem to have such polar views on here its an eye opener, and the amount of anti brexit/government/wealth/capitalistic posts, leads me to think these views can only be spouted by people close to the meat.

No one posts "I understand what you are saying, but i feel" its all "AAAAArgh he's shite", "those Tories are idiots"...

On same sex marriage, he said "I'm a Roman Catholic, and have made it clear to my association, from very early on, that in this sort of matter I would take my whip from the hierarchy of the Catholic Church, rather than from the Government's whip's office."

So I think that reinforces that whilst some of his votes are at the behest of the whip, others are governed by his faith. I can't find any reason not to respect that

He was elected to represent his constituents, not Rome.

If his name was Sajid and he wanted to impose halal in school meals and prayers 5 time a day you'd be pissing your pants.

To be fair, a Canadian senator has rather put Mr Rees-Mogg's filibustering efforts in the shade. He read his book out in parliament which not only achieved his time using objective but also meant he got it translated into French for nothing.

I think that was the first time I ever heard of JRM, one of the few Ali G interviewees that didn't make a complete tit of themselves...

Anyway, back on topic, what I would like to discuss if we can filter out all the class-hate and privilege prejudice, is whether JRM might be just what the UK needs at the moment...

I'm very anti-Brexit, but I've come to terms with the fact that leaving the EU inevitable now and there's nothing we can do about it.

The government could adopt the attitude that they've been bullied into making a self-inflicted wound by the electorate, and they are grudgingly going through the motions with neither enthusiasm or confidence in the process or outcome.

However, I think most people would agree that short of punishing the electorate for making a bad decision, not much else will be achieved by that approach.

JRM seems to be the only pro-Brexit voice that gives me any sort of optimism about the future. His clarity and lucidity on matters of process and procedure has made me feel far less pessimistic about leaving the EU, and whilst I wish to God we weren't leaving, perhaps it's not all doom and gloom.

What are other people's thoughts? (without the wealth-bashing please...)

He's an arse with an over inflated sense of self importance and would still be an arse with an over inflated sense of self importance if he was poor (though it's hard to imagine that a lot of his personality isn't related to his privilege, it's his personality I dislike, not the privilege). HTH

You see the name Jacob Rees Mogg and you seem to lose the ability to offer anything other than venting your bile. Or maybe it's just when you see my name.

Such a shame, it would be nice to have a grown-up conversation. Is that something you might be able to manage, or would you be better off venting your spleen on a different thread?

You asked for our opinions on him, I gave my opinion on him. Exactly what other sort of answer were you wanting from me? No venting of my spleen going on, simply providing my opinion as you requested.

It might help you get the sort of responses you're after if you request opinions only from people who like him.
