Evening STW

just a quick one, and wondering if its me being stupid/impatient (or both...not going to rule that out 😛 )

I have created a 'website' on iWeb (iLife 11) on my mac, i have also purchased a domain name (tues 17/5).
I have linked this domain name to my mobileme account, following the instructions (tues 17/5)

I have tried to publish this site to my domain name, but still get nothing comes back to that domain name yet, except for a page from whom i registered it.

am i expecting this all to happen to quickly, do i need to wait another day or 2?

any help much appreciated.

many thanks in advance.

I know nothing about this mac publishing whatsit but,

Generally when you register a domain name it can take anything from a couple of minutes to a couple of days for the name to propogate round the Internet and be fully live.

Once that's done, however, publishing should be instant (assuming your browser isn't displaying cached pages rather than the new ones). If it's not coming up within a couple of seconds, I'd suggest something's Wrong.

I think you have to FTP it.

iweb is designed for .mac accounts.

Softpress Freeway may be better for what you are after and is pretty idiot proof.

I don't use iWeb or MobileMe but can I assume you had to set up a DNS alias (any instructions you followed might have said CNAME)? If you did, that'll take about a day before it goes live. Everybody says 48 hours but it doesn't usually take that long.

You can cheat just to check it by entering your domain registrar's DNS server as your primary DNS server in System Preferences>Network.

Edit: Oh wait - you made the DNS change on Tuesday? Something's not right then. Details ... ?

If you have published it first check if you can view the website from your mobile me account. This works then there is a problem with your domain name. If you can't see anything then you have a publishing problem. I do things slightly differently as I don't have a mobile me account so publish the website locally and then FTP up to my web storage.

yeah i think something is wrong too...
i have followed all the instructions to the letter (as far as i can tell) off mobile me and off my domain reg. site ( 123-reg ) and still getting nowhere.

i have changed the CNAME as per the instructions off iWeb and still not getting anywhere.

bugger
