Well that's me busy every weekend until October then, but I couldn't bear it, it started to overgrow the garden path.

It's been such a mild winter here the grass never really stopped growing; I've never mown the lawn every single month of the year before!

I overseeded mine a fortnight ago. Perfect excuse not to touch it now for six weeks.

There's nothing left of mine after the moss killing and scarifying. Pigeons have eaten all the grass seed I put down too. What was wrong with soft, green, springy moss anyway?!

Ha! Mine is mostly moss. Thinking scarifying might be a bad idea...

We moved four weeks ago from a tiny patch of mostly bare muddy lawn (thanks, chickens!) to a rather larger front and back garden that meant a purchase of a petrol mower, two cuts already and needs another - just a shame it's not quite big enough to justify a ride-on mower 🙁

Cut mine twice so far. If previous years are anything to go by then I'll probably do it once more in about 6 weeks, where I'll uncover loads of cat crap, swear profusely, threaten to hoof them in the slats, berate myself for letting the grass get so long and giving them somewhere to crap, promise to do it the following weekend but hopefully get distracted by lots of dry bike rides until late autumn.

Cut twice a week weather permitting since mid February. By the end of the month it will be three times a week.
Each cut only takes 30 minutes.
I like a striped lawn not a field

I shall be cutting the grass at Southampton Bike Park this weekend using the strimmer and lawn mower paid for by the Baby Bike Bash

Now moved onto 2 times a week cut. Using a mulcher so can't let it get too long, but having the use of a ride on and use noise cancelling headphones so get 30mins twice a week to listen to music. It's bliss!

Cutting grass? I thought synthetic grass was de rigueur around here?

Mowed 2 weeks ago from overgrowth.

Had the strummer out to clear the paving.

Front lawn needs digging out and returffing!

Fair play. I'm getting that Joe Cocker over to trim my hedge.

Surely people who cut their grass more than once a week have problems? I cut about 30 lawns just now, every 2 weeks. They all look nice and are really healthy and grow well.

A bowling green in the garden - why?

Ours really should get done more often than i do it. It grows about 10 cm a week at peak season (which has just started). Then we get the wildlife down eating it and dropping ticks everywhere.

Looking forward to it but not looking forward to doing it regularly
Yeah, i guess you'll have the same issue as me, why does grass grow so sodding quickly here? My last place in the UK only needed cutting about once every three or four weeks and only took about 10 minutes. Took longer to get the lawnmower out than to cut the lawn.

Over here its weekly and takes ages.

My lawn grows 6" a week this time of year, and mutant giant nettles appear as soon as I turn my back!!

This is why I've a carefully cultivated moss and ground elder lawn. Grass is way too high maintenance.

Managed to do the whole rear lawn in one run of the petrol yesterday. As I'd done it a week ago there wasn't as much to hack down. Only takes 10 minutes that way 🙂

overseeded mine a fortnight ago.

Me too. Results in 5 days guaranteed it said, I'm still looking at bare patches with seed sitting on top after warm and damp conditions. They lied.

They lied

You might've done it wrong. I had to re-seed patches of mine. But I've learned you can't just chuck the seed down.

Raked and mini-hoed the surface of the bare patches down an inch or so, not bothering about the tufts of grass that were in there; spread some compost (and sand if I'd had it); then used tons of seed all raked in. Then covered it with netting, and it's come up nicely in three weeks. It was shade-tolerant seed which is slow to establish though, and I watered it carefully even though we've had rain.

I think I'll cover it with fleece next time though til it comes up because setting up netting is a faff.

Yep you need to break up the surface a bit and ideally add a bit of lawn dressing to help it take and then keep it moist for a week or two...
