The machine is a Bosch Classixx 1000 Express, my key was in my work trousers and I have some very important stuff in my locker and there is no spare key.

It got caught in the rubber seal but as I peeled it back to get it it slipped between the gap you can see in the picture (just between the edge of the metal drum and the off white gunky bit)

It could end up in the coin trap after the next cycle

Not enough room to get a magnet down between the gap.

Check your locker key number on the lock order a new one from eBay for £1

It can’t be that easy can it?

I'd put it on a quick fill and drain cycle. Should get picked up in the trap. Normally accessible by opening a flap at the front bottom edge of the machine and unscreewing.

Bosch have a filter for crap like this, botttom right hand corner on the front of the machine.

Put the machine on drain, it will get most of the water out then get a towel and put it underneath the flap, open flap, unscrew filter and pull... all the crap will be in there.

Ive found £3 in pound coins in mine ...

Put a block of wood (2" approx)under the front of the machine before unscrewing the filter cap. Just tips the machine back enough to stop the water in the trap gushing out.

or

Buy a bump key, open your locker and open all the other lockers as well!

Hopefully your lockers show the key number on the lock.

Would be a lot more worried if it also works with safes!

Hopefully your lockers show the key number on the lock.

The way today has gone, they won’t, but right now I have a slight glimmer of hope.

Theres an external drum that catches the water and the internal drum that revolves, with a pipe from the external drum to a pump and filter, try taking off this pipe and see if its jammed in there, if not youll have to seperate the drum also remove the filter and see if its stuck above or behind the filter

On mine, take the back off the machine, there will be a rubber pipe between the pump, and the bottom of the drum.  Take all the clamps off (probably 3) the key could be stuck in the filter but I also had three coins in the actual pump itself.  I also found a clear round label that had come off some clothing and was covering almost off of the filter mesh!  Its lovely back there so have plenty of kitchen towel 🙂

Don't be scared, washing machines are fairly simple things...it lets water in, it heats, it turns the drum, it pumps out, it spins.  There is an electrical box of tricks where the mains lead goes too (common fault point) and the 3rd tube off the rubber hose mentioned above simply goes to a pressure switch so the machine knows when to stop filling (use handwash by mistake and bubbles get stuck in the tube, resulting in the machine over-filling and stopping mid-wash)

That would be mine too (Hotpoint by any chance?)

Plastic clip under the pump body to release if from the chassis, then three screws to split the pump housing in half.  There's no separate filter that I'm aware of, I've had to split it several times to extract coins, half a knitted sock, lighters, small children etc.  Five minutes of a job once you've done it once, it takes longer to pull the machine out.

make sure its unplugged before you remove the back plate or you may electrocute yourself or it may start accidently

Sound advice, truth be known after seeing the glorious numbers stamped on the front of the lock I’ve ordered a key from eBay as opening the machine up fills me with dread.

It sends me into a bit of a spin just thinking about it 😉
