You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Popped to the newsagents ths morning to pick up a paper and as I had a spare 2 quid thought I'd buy a lottery scratch card. I haven't bought a lottery ticket since 1997 but thought why not. Basically match three numbers to win that amount. Turns out that the amount was £20,000!!!
Pretty pleased really as I had a mountain of debt stacking up and I can pay it all off now and leave about £10,000 to do with as I please. Today is a good day.
Enjoy your winnings
Nice!
DrP
Sweet 🙂 Make sure you buy something useful with the 10k, like a dog with three tails or something like that.
lend us 20 quid mate? 🙂
what are you doing with the 10k?
Wow! Wish I had your luck, I must have spent £1000+ on lotto tickets! Enjoy!
Pretty pleased really
Nice understatement.
Congratulations 😀
New bike time surely!? 😀
I have a Nigerian uncle thats having some real trouble moving some gold out of the country and just needs some investment capital ! nah lucky bugger enjoy it.
Fantastic, do something useful with the 10 grand
Nice one 🙂
Sweet.
I don't know what I'll do with the 10k. It hasn't entirely sunk in really. like most people I've never really won anything before so it's weird to think I'm just going to be given 20 grand for nothing. The most money I've ever had.
I'll have to treat the wife and I to something.
Result! Good karma 🙂
So how do you get your money?
For smaller amounts obviously you can just claim it in the newsagents.
I guess you have to phone up and then not leave the house or sleep until the ticket can be verified, and they give you a cheque or balance transfer?
I've heard that there are some fake scratchcards doing the rounds that, when you rub the panels off you *appear* to have won £20k.
If you send it to me I can examine it to see if it is genuine or not...
😉
Nice one... pay of the debt and enjoy the rest. Happy for you.
That's awesome, congrats!
great stuff, it's nice to see a topic that don't involve a rant or mass argument!
Give it time geordiemick, give it time. 🙂
Sounds like n+1 time. Repeat until skint. Congrats. 🙂
Congratulations you jammy git 😀
My sister won £75k back in 98. Changed her life quite a bit tbh. And mine because I sold her my business!
9k on booze, drugs and hookers. You could then waste the rest. 😉
Congratulations - I have no envy whatsoever....
Now excuse me whilst I go and cry into a pint 😉
Enjoy it!
Nice one.
I'll bet that card hasnt left your hand / line of sight all day.
Nice!
Good stuff, enjoy that debt free feeling of lighter shoulders. I should be there with 7/8 months. Looking forward to it.
In the mean time, can I interest you in some magic beans?
Great to hear that good things still happen to those that deserve it!
Now keep your fingers crossed for me, I'm off to buy a scratch card! 😉
Congrats.
I win on the lottery every single time it's drawn, crept the days I buy a ticket...then I always lose!!
Nice one 😀
top stuff 🙂
though, if you got yourself 10k in debt it might be worth setting aside a good chunk of the remaining 10k to make sure it doesn't happen again...
Whatever you do, get rid of that debt on Monday or now O.P!
Save your money for a rainy day.
Sweet.
Solvency has a lot to commend it!
Withdraw it all in £1 coins, stack it in you lounge and just stroke it. 😀
Wow that's quality! Enjoy
Congrats!
Thanks all. Absolutely chuffed now it's sunk in. The debt incidentally was due to life changing surgery overseas for my mum so wasn't being frivolous or careless with money.
After paying it off I'm going to treat the wife and I to a holiday. Haven't had one in 3 years. Ticket has to be verified and then you are sent a cheque for 20 thousand pounds.

Mostly that, TBH at the moment investing is shite unless your in it for the long game so any debts you have get rid of and don't go wild just because you have a bit now. Financial stability is a very calming thing.
Wahay.....a nice post on stw....well done, i bet it's a fantastic feeling to now say "I'm debt free, with cash to spare"
For gods sake don't put the scratchcard somewhere safe.....everytime i put something of value somewhere safe i can never remember where i hid it nor find it again.
Brilliant news - glad you can clear your debt, which was an amazing thing to do btw. Karma does work!
Now if only had your luck
Congrats in deed.
wow, amazing!! you lucky thing. Enjoy it.Best I ever did on the lottery was about £20!! LOL
who says karma doesn't exist 🙂
that's awesome news 🙂
i bet you're still sat with a big grin on your face! 🙂
Brilliant, money for nothing - not much of that about these days. Enjoy it 😀

Nice one, fella!! I reckon that's Karma for helping out your mum!
Clear debts
Holiday
Posh meal for family
Stick 5k in an ISA
Buy a little something REALLY frivalous you've always wanted but couldn't justify
Buy all your mates a beer
Give £50 to your favourite charity
And keep grinning!
For all the threads full of STW member bashing on here it's a thread like this that reminds me that you're all good folk on this little forum, even the Tory voting ones 😉 .
Thanks for the nice messages, made a very good day even better.
That's made my day! Congratulations!
Congratulations!! Nice fish.

Awesome. Karma works sometimes.
I did alright on the Euromillions on Friday. £2.70. Result!
Congrats, enjoy!!
don't tell the wife you've won £20k.
tell her you've won £12k or something. Pay off the debts, buy her something nice, go on holiday, whatever.
Keepy a stash for a 'rainy day'*
*new bike
I won in 98. 87 quid. Bought everyone drinks to celebrate!!!
Enjoy it OP.
I would stick the lot in the bank and pay off your debts steadily. The nest egg will help you relax, transform your stress levels proportionally more than blowing it etc. 🙂

😯
I know. It lasted 3 rounds. I remember the night in Camden. We celebrated like we were Millionaires 😆
Good for you. My advice is that you do whatever the heck you want with it. I really like it when good stuff happens to people. 🙂
Congrats to the OP - good to know some winning scratchcards actually exist with the amount I buy 😳
Be wise with it, especially in these hard times, a guy I know won one million a while ago, moved to a new house and blew the rest.
Ive heard hes just got done for benefit fraud !!!
Nice one. I have only won a few things in the past. The most memorable a colour tv.
My mate (you know who you are!) was trying to sell me raffle tickets and I was never going to buy one as I never win anything. So a few days later he asks for a loan of £1 or possibly £2,can't remember back to 1990-ish. I give it to him and he starts grinning like a cheshire cat.. telling me that it was for a raffle ticket. Wasn't too impressed at the time (yeah,a £1!) but to win the tv after all that happening was priceless.
Last thing I won was a six pack of toblerone! I love toblerone. Good look mate, nothing better than being able to clear a bit of debt. Takes the pressure off for a bit.
Congratulation!
The most I have won is £10. 😐
😛
Nice one Dude , Enjoy.
Well done......enjoy . 😀
So then, what bike are you going to buy?
£10,000! - well done mate, waste it wisely.
Get rid of your debt and spend wise
and save some too !
Many congrats!
Runs off to check the lottery & Thunderball tickets that I bought yesterday....
With that sort of money I'd get laser eye surgery.
I'd love laser eyes....
DrP
Good luck mate.Oh but whatever you do dont give any to a ponsy, fixie cafe in Bristol.
