A Lambborghini 4x4 near my house.
Shirley it's time to stop making, buying and driving these ridiculous cars. They don't fit in parking spaces, they don't drive well on our tiny country roads and they're not good for the environment imo.
How else do you expect YouTube millionaires to flash off their wealth?
Seen one a few weeks ago it was pretty big that’s for sure and totally pointless.

They don’t fit in parking spaces, they don’t drive well on our tiny country roads and they’re not good for the environment imo.
Just like a VW T5 then?
Just like a VW T5 then?
Not really no. A T5 is just a status symbol isn't it, at least the lambo 4x4 might actually be good at getting out of muddy camping fields.
or a massive estate car. Some of them are like barges.
No not just like a T5 which is actually no bigger and often smaller than a large family car or mid sized SUV. At least get your facts right if your going to demonise thousands of normal innocent people just minding their own business and getting on with life.
As for lambo 4x4’s and cars like them, yes they are useless extravagances, but account for about 0.5% of the cars on ge road, clock up FA mileage between them so not damaging the environment and the vat on the sale on one of these cars is more that most of us pay in tax and N.I. In a year so are hugely beneficial to society.
No not just like a T5 which is actually no bigger and often smaller than a large family car or mid sized SUV.
But is longer than a Lamborghini Urus albeit a tiny bit narrower?
Lambo is 5113mm long x 2017mm wide
T5 is 5290mm long x 1959mm wide
So, just like a T5 then?
At least get your facts right if your going to demonise thousands of normal innocent people just minding their own business and getting on with life.
I’m all about the facts
It wasn't even nice looking.
Woman up the road drives a Bently 4x4 I feel the same about that.
Hmm, 4x4 Lamborghini. Wasn't one of these by any chance?

No not just like a T5 which is actually no bigger and often smaller than a large family car or mid sized SUV.
T5 is bigger than most estates but at least the T5 has some purpose as a van.
bit like constantly posting on a bike forum when you don't even ride a bike. no?
...or posting in a Chat forum when you’ve no intention of chatting?

🤣🤣🤣🤷♂️
I’ll give you credit, that’s one exorbitant statement.
You are LyingBloHard and I collect my €5
What about those double-cab pickups?
e.g. HiLux, Navarra, X Class etc - they are much bigger than the Lambo Uranus....... plus they have stupid names like Warrior, Invincible, Penetrator, Dominator, DailyMailReader, etc.

Are they though? 😉

It's also 400mm longer and 100mm wider than a mondeo (which is I guess a large family car?)
400mm longer than the VW Sharan, though similar width. If the mondeo isn't a good example.
1200mm longer and 400mm wider than a Honda jazz which seats 4 adults (the T5 won't without crew seats?) will take 2 large fs 29ers in the boot with 2 adults in the front and so on.
It is roughly similar length and 350mm narrower than a unimog 2450 though. I'm guessing thats a [your] mid Sized SUV?

Warrior L200 double cab is 5205x1785 I believe (assuming I'm adding the right numbers up from parkers) so a smidge longer and a bit narrower than the uranus, shorter and narrower than a T5.

Meh. I'm not a fan of flaunting wealth in such a way. However, these cars will probably still be around in 50 years time, driven 500 miles per year, while ours litter scrapyards and landfill. From an environmental perspective, the unnecessary journeys made by most of us on a daily basis are a much, much bigger problem. The odd Lamborghini on the roads is neither here nor there.
But are we walking T5 SWB or LWB? Most T5s are SWB so <5m long
What about a T5 tipper ?
What about a T5 tipper ?
I've never known a T5 owner to tip.
welshfarmer - I think something a bit more up to date

No "need" for cars like that, but people can spend their money how they like - would imagine the tax they pay on filling them up serves some public good.
You might as well criticise those who buy and import £5k bikes on the same basis. Nothing wrong with a £200 Carrera.
When we had this very argument about a month ago, some people were quoting the width of vehicles including the wing mirrors, and others without. Just saying, before you all go getting your knickers completely twisted.

I find twisted knickers are the best bait to throw out from under my bridge

Buying a couple of tons of refined and highly engineered natural resources just to sit on a drive and be looked at, that's NOT damaging the environment is it?
We have a loong way to go yet, don't we.

Ha ha
As if people who can afford lamborghinis pay any tax worth speaking of!
Ha haaaaa

VAT on a basic model would be just shy of £32k
It all depends on how you use such a vehicle.
Our next door neighbour pops to the shops (6 min walk away)
The school (20 min walk away).
Her family and work (both short car journeys).
This in her old massive diesel Porsche Cayenne type thing. It's polluting and she drives it like an idiot.
VAT on an expensive item is a lot shocker.
You'd never manage to convert that into a camper Elshalimo.
And it's bigger than the proper lorry behind it.
VAT on a basic model would be just shy of £32k
Less 50% if its leased or 100 even if its a business vehicle only "not used for private miles"
Hey Bunns, sorry about leaving the motor outside your gaff. It'll be gone just as soon as I get back from the Seychelles.
My riding buddy has one. It's a very nice car indeed, and its quite a bit more eco friendly than the couple of vehicles he had before that. He was a bit intigued when he saw a Bentayga parked up at our local starting point on Cannock Chase with a towbar. He's seeing about getting one fitted which will make our trips to Wales and the Peak a bit more comfortable than when we have to squeeze 3 of us into my 13 year old Vivaro.
Woman up the road drives a Bently 4×4 I feel the same about that.
Oh .... so it was all a humble brag ..... about how you live in an affluent area.
😉
Got overtaken in Manchester the other day by one of these monsters, it had been wrapped in gold chrome...
I'm all for them, they serve a somewhat useful "identification" social function
@dangeuorbrain - simply drop a Decathlon pop-up tent in the load bay and hey presto ..instant lifestyle machine
Then spend £12k on lowered suspension, 22" alloys & a massive stereo system
<div class="bbp-author-role"></div>
If the argument really centres around pointless large engined vehicles, then we’d better start at the JLR range of Diesel engined 4x4’s, then move onto BMW and Audi and Porsche then into large petrol engined 4x4’s.
Its a somewhat stagnant argument, when folks start pointing the finger at those that don’t give a shit about what you or I think.
Go on, treat yourself to a VW Touareg V10 TDi

We did a long time ago.
How long?
I've not been timing it sorry.
Yes I do live in an affluent area - what of it?
Saved hard, did without a lot of things, bought the the worst house in the road and did it up.
Anyway back to the original thread. I know these cars are comfortable and yes if you have the funds why not treat yourself, however this small island of ours wasn't build for these,
I don't feel safe when I'm riding a bike along the road when one of these things pass me, however the driver inside has the latest all singing all dancing safety gadgets, too much comfort and too many gadgets can easily take your mind off concentrating on driving.
Waves to BWD. It might not be here when you return, Hahaha.
One of these went through the village the other day. Would fit in practically any parking space, excellent turning circle though it was a bit slow and clanky.

Yes I do live in an affluent area
Have you moved to Mobberley?
Your house?

At work we have, at the moment, getting on for a couple of thousand vehicle ranging from a Smart fourtwo up through pretty much every common SUV, and a couple of less common Alfa Stelvios, through passenger Transits, Hyundai and Renault to commercial vans from Enterprise, mostly big Transits, Renault Traficmaster, VW Transporter and Mercedes Vito
As I have to drive these vehicles around the site, which is very congested, and which has industry-standard parking bays painted in some places, I’m all too aware of the relative sizes of what I’m driving, and I can state quite categorically that a Galaxy, Tucson, Stelvio, Mondeo, Grand S-Max, etc, are all a lot smaller than a van!
however this small island of ours wasn’t build for these,
I don’t feel safe when I’m riding a bike along the road
Hate to break it to you but our roads were certainly never built for bikes, some for horse and cart/coaches (which have a long and proud tradition of running poor people down) but the roads you see today were built for cars, buses and trucks, that you're allowed to ride a bike on them is just a happy coincidence.

Seen a statement yesterday, being a meat eater is worse for the environment than our transport addiction is.
I feel I need that R904 in my life, not sure what for but it could drive around the horse field and look good..
We live in Devon and smile when I see the posh oversize 4x4s pussyfooting around the lanes. Funny thing is locals in vans and pickups don’t seem to have the same difficulties.
