What's the issue with horse flesh in the UK? It's bloody lovely. Like beef steak but a bit sweeter.

I've zero problem with it. Its utter waste to destroy horses etc when people are starving or can't afford meat in their weekly shop.

I haven't tried it yet but if it was me and fido left from the plane crash on the glacier I soon would.

Abit cliche but if I was in a plane crash on a glacier (like what happened in SAmerica) I'd be eating human ASAP.

'Oi get off me, nowt wrong with me you weirdo' 😆

TBH if you shop at Tesco and have eaten mince, more than likely you've already eaten horse meat.

It wasn't French horse meat per chance?

Not great timing if it was.

its utter waste to destroy horses

As most horse will be put down using barbiturates in the UK.. "Prompt and proper disposal of the body is critical, either by deep burial, cremation, or a renderer. House pets and wildlife can sink into a coma after consuming relatively small amounts of tissue or blood from a barbiturate-injected body."
Yes some are shot, but not many... & the majority will be old/end of life animals, no one serves that type of meat...

How about dog?

It doesn't taste very nice. Kind of like greasy tasteless lamb was the impression I got so I won't be having it again.

Squirrel wasn't so good, less good than rabbit. I guess that's why we don't eat squirrels.

leberkäse....? seriously?

i've not got a problem with eating a horse, but leberkäse (lebkääs)?

it has to one of the most off-putting foods within the Teutonic world. a mashed up mix of pureed "something". even the locals don't know what is in it....

there isn't actually much, usually any, liver in leberkäse (liver-cheese).

nor is there any cheese.

the name is a bastardisation of the german laib (loaf) and slavic quas (feast).

Might as well roll this one out if we're getting all cosmopolitan.

Kummerspeck (German) - Excess weight gained from emotional overeating. Literally, grief bacon
