I'd have said the Jura but you can't lose with that choice.
The jura is in my hip flask for the cold rides. I had a glass last night. Lovely drop - much more fruity than this bowmore (a drop which I've never had before).
Drinking quality whisky after a few beers is a waste. Drink the grouse.
nah - the taste buds are still working well. This bowmore is lovely.
I'm on a 18yr old Aberlour xmas present, a big sherry peachy finish of a whisky, just a touch of water to bring it out and big swirl in the glass, it clings to the side with tenacity and certainly lubricates my throat.
Yum, drinking it wi a munch of medjool dates whilst listening to Mark Radcliffes new Folk Show on R2 iPlayer as the stove is burning away beside me.......why did i have to agree to work t'morn?....just one more refill then bed, up at 6am 😥
What did you make of the Sneck Lifter? It's too dark for me. I live in the town where it's brewed. I used to get to go on the brewery tours through a Jennings pub I used to frequent...it was always a free bar so we'd try to have a pint of everything they made in the short space of time we had. If I tried to do that now, I'd spew halfway through trying!
I'm a bit fan of jennings' stuff. Tonight mid-ride I had a cumberland, which is a lovely mild ale, and the Sneck Lifter is just deep enough tasting for me. It's one of my favourites I must admit.
no beer is too dark. I sometimes have a few pints of 'black' at the black dog in Belmont. It's like concentrated hops. Absolutely gorgeous. I find myself licking the sticky stuff off my lips for a while after each pint.
And 18 year old whiskies are sipping drinks. They may still taste good after a few pints but really, you're not sipping any more, you're drinking.
I'm going to try this snow grouse thing now.

And whilst I agree that 18 year old whiskies should be sipped, there's no reason you can't enjoy one after three ales IMO.
Aha...but i've not had a few pints, if i drank a few pints i'd have been on the forum abusing everyone and making an arse of myself (more than usual then eh?) or being deliberately obtuse to folk that wind me up as i can get rather drunk and ill on a couple of pints so thus i don't really drink - but i do like my wine n' whisky in moderation, like you say....a sipping drink.
There's only one reason why they recommend you drink Snow Grouse chilled from the freezer - coz it kills the aromatic oils and flavour terpenoids in the whisky as otherwise it's too bloody fowl to drink the stuff <----see what i did there 😉
well the snow grouse was reluctantly drunk and now bed calls...
however, a whisky drinkers ride is budding in mind.....
Pook I'm still on the Bowmore, 2nd glass as I'm fielding calls from my engineers who are almost out of their tech depth!!
Not sure its for the best as the issue has been going on since 6:30pm and I don't think they really know what to do next 😮
