...............which I love. And this beauty cropped up which I haven't listened too for ages. Forgot just how good it is, in my opinion of course - foottappingtastic.
You big softie 😉
PS
Your not old enough to remember the 80s
Joe Jackson was flippin' ace wasn't he? 🙂
Never really noticed him at the time but recently spotted this performance.
Just cracking. Raw, honest and manages to look like a normal person.
I love this one --
blimey it's like being 18 all over again....ah Amanda Green in that duffle coat i can't look at a toggle without smiling
Never heard that one, a half decent Steely dan cover 🙂
what am i doing wrong 👿
Compare your url format to the ones that work.
Thanks Cougar, bit of faffage.
I saw the title and my heart sank.
Then I saw Joe Jackson and thought.
LOOK SHARP!
Fabulous album and a huge part of my 80s weekends. Just look at that track listing.
Since discovering Absolute 80s a few years ago, I listen to little else...
Good call on Killing Joke.
The rest is utter bobbins though.
Fancy a bit of Robert Smith?
Well not the sodding "Love Cats", no... this beauty..
The Caterpillar
I do love Robert Smith's voice, great vocalist.
Was at work in an exhibition centre in Paris last week, and one of the crews were pumping out the eighties hits.
When Alphaville came on singing 'Big In Japan'it took me right back.
Absolute classic.
Blamange, Go West, Aha, Talk talk, Peter Gabriel (So), Paul Simon (Graceland), Aztec Camera, Prefab Sprout (Steve McQueen), happy happy days
Played in a few bands in the 80s as a teenager and we were most definitely influenced by the more awful synthey-pop-toss rather than the rare few gems.
Happy times though, and yes, Joe Jackson's 'Get Sharp' is one that really hits home I loved that back then and still do. Killing Joke too, I was smitten with that. Especially 'Tension' and 'Follow The Leader'
Also XTC, New Order, Matt Johnson/The The, Thomas Dolby, Bill Nelson, B52s, Alien Sex Fiend
*Edit, oh yeah, I really liked The Cult as well, first GF bought me the 'Love' LP, awwww.
Siouxsie & The Banshees, Bauhaus, Southern Death Cult, New Model Army, Killing Joke, The Damned, Play Dead, The Sisters Of Metcy, Fields Of The Nephilim, Spear Of Destiny, Theatre Of Hate, XMal Deutschland, Sex Gang Children, Gene Loves Jezebel, Skeletal Family, ah, takes me back
Saw Matt Johnson at the Apollo in Manchester around 90? Uncertain Smile is a wonderful song
NMA, thunder and consolation was brill too
I had an evening with the Cure tonight. Blame it on Winter watch, which I could just about bear because Pack**** is ill, and Michaela was wearing a nice Velez jacket. Anyway, I digress. An article on replanting trees in the Scottish uplands in order to hold rain in the soil and prevent flooding had a vaguely familiar background tune......then i realised it was The Cure, A Forest. (Very clever i thought) Of course I found a live version on the old Tube and then drifted into the playlist, then a bit of Sisters. The Cure are touring this year I think. Might have to dig out my mohair sweater and bullet belt.
Did some shopping earlier...two stores in a row playing "Hold Me Now" by the Thompson Twins...
Ahhh, the 80's...
Yello/Prefab Sprout/ Beasty Boys/ ABC/ New Order/ Propaganda 😀
Oooh! Nice one RD! 😀
I'll take your Tiff and raise you a Toni 😉

stepping out reminds me of playing GTA (3?). Was on a good radio station I'd just get a car and cruise the streets listening to the tunes 🙂
I'm off to an 80s/90s school fund raiser tonight. I love Dead or Alives, you spin me round, but mleh ruined that one!
This isn't 80's but it IS Robert Smith...
Gotta have some DM in there surely?
Thanks Beanum, huge fan of John Martyn, listen to that later.
Rock LobsterB52s
My mate had this preordered from the record shop in Walton Vale in Liverpool and got it as soon as it came out. We stayed off school and listened to it all day 🙂
Lists like this are typically lacking in Screaming Blue Messiahs so have some of this
(Good & Gone starts at about 3:00)
