All i want to do is add an mp3 file from my pc to my nano. How can it be so difficult? I've tried copying it directly to every folder in my nano, i've tried dragging it to the iTunes window, i've tried File, Add File to Library. How do i do it?

I don't think nanos understand MP3s - you need to right-click the file in the iTunes window (if you can get it there) and select 'Create AAC version'. Then it should sync.

Ignore this.

Why? Not a very polite way of putting your point across...

Should be File/add to library. Never had that problem myself - is it possible the metadata is screwy? Ie it is being added without a artist name or trackname so you're having trouble finding it? Look at the very end of the list to find the nameless stuff.

It's a podcast that I downloaded from a website, so I guess it may not have correct metadata. Can't find it in podcasts in iTunes (as it's quite an old one).

To import to iTunes, should just be able to drag and drop the file to the track list in iTunes (but make sure you are dragging to the library, not to the nano playlist, and not to an automatic generating playlist).

To then copy to your nano, just make sure the nano settings are set up to sync content from whatever playlist you create for your new item. If it is a podcast, make sure that is turned on, and the relevant items checked.

iTunes / iPods are very easy to set up and used once you have done it once or twice.

True. I was out of order and could have worded my reply better. For the record i was just waiting to be picked up for my driving test so was in a bad mood 😉

If you know the URL of the podcast feed, you can enter this into iTunes and it will automatically download new items, even though it is not listed in the podcasrt directory.

Generally, the best way to interact with iTunes is to just let it get on with it's job. If you want to add a new mp3 then just drag the file to the "Music" sidebar item in iTunes.
