Church food bank attracts the wrong sort of people.

So it's been closed.

I realise this is a well worn path but do these people see no contradiction between what their holy book says they should do, the example that their founder gave them and what they're actually doing?

Jesus Wept. Probably.

Someone once said "there's too much religion and not enough Christianity" - the cycling equivalent for me is calling myself a cyclist but not stopping to see that a fellow rider is ok if you see him at the side of the road.

Too caught up in the symbolism and not the true meaning.

Not a surprise to me - as a 10 year old, and with a mate, we were turfed out of the church doorway into thunder and lightening because "This is not the place you should be sheltering." - Rev Grilles, St Cuthbert's Church, Rotherham - lovely man, he really got it too!!

More complex than at first appears.

Everything is but even in the follow up it's clear that a big reason was to refocus on spiritual pursuits rather than 'secular'.

What a sad troll and really quite desperate. At least get something up-to-date and relevant if you must persist.

Not quite sure how reducing employment capacity in the dairy industry and putting people out of work is being "kind"...

came up on my twitter feed today and I took it at face value as being current.

Not trolling. Just shocked (really).

Can't see the shock value in "Religious people caught being irrational", frankly.

Do unto others as you would be done by, help your fellow man and woman, love and tolerance for all (but this is STW so...) I think that's the best thing to take from religion.
Generally, don't be a dick.

johndoh, she became vegan. In fairness I'm not sure what the relevance of that point is but she chose to include it in the article so I guess it must be important to her.

Okay, so by giving time and possessions to others isn't enough, she has to eat cow too?

But surely her food intake hasn't gone down - she has merely distributed her food spend to different shops.

Would one person not drinking milk actually put people out of work?

Nothing to do with being a cyclist. Just demonstrates that you're a good bloke hobbies aside.
