Im 57 and retired about 2 yrs ago from a career Policing.  I have had a couple of part time zero hours contract jobs that ive really enjoyed in the past 2 yrs. These jobs are now coming to an end for me due to relocation of the company.

In the unit next door is an outdoor company who manufacture some outdoor hardware.

Ive approached their head of HR in person and she has asked me to send a CV.  However ive never written one, so is there a template i can use? How far back do i go? What level of qualification is relevant? Im really aware that without a framework or some guidance i will create a rambling shambles which includes my scouts badge for washing up.

Any advice welcomed.

Thanks

Ian

If you're on Facebook, join the Blue Light Leavers group. Loads of advice and links to CV professionals dealing almost exclusively with emergency service workers on there.
I'm six months from retirement and there's a wealth of info.

I wouldn’t overdo it.

there’s your CV. That’s what she needs to know, with a bit more detail.
Keep it to a page or 2 max.

-what skills did you learn in your policing career that transfer to this company?
-what is it that made you enjoy your recent job that transfer to this company?
-what do you do in your spare time (ahem, outdoor mtb’ing?) that mean you’re interested in this company.

Might be worth including contact details of a couple of references (people who know you from your last jobs will do).

I wouldn't bother with anything pre Police really and just summarise your posts if they're not directly relevant to the new role. Also summarise early education so X O levels, Y A levels etc

Keep it to your most recent roles in Policing and just highlight what you've done. You need to highlight the skills that will apply to the new role, but I reccon it's just for record purposes for the company, especially if they offer an interview - they need to know what they can ask you about your experience, and how it would apply to this role.

I suspect they will snap you up
