Designed to support users facing mobility challenges caused by aging, fatigue, and injury, MO/GO utilizes wearable robotics to provide a 40 percent boost to the leg muscles during hiking ascents and knee support on the way down. The technology uses a battery-operated motor connected to sensors and a computer module that predicts and assists the user’s movements. “Through extensive testing, prototyping and pushing the boundaries of design, we’ve seen testers get back out … scaling summits and challenges they thought were lost to them,” said Arc’teryx Chief Creative Officer Katie Becker. The product will be available for reservation starting July 24, 2024, with shipments expected in late 2025.

My mate has MS and I reckon this kind of product will help him in the not too distant future. He bought my ebike off me to keep riding, but he has real trouble when stopping cos his legs sometimes just don't hold him up, especially with the heavy ebike weight pushing him off balance. Would be amazing if some tech like this came along which would make going for bike rides with him possible again.

@desperatebicycle maybe a Hase trike or tandem would be a cheaper option, that's the route my sil took until she admitted MS had beaten her ?

This tech is based in part on similar technology being developed for the US Military, I think by DARPA, and other similar systems are coming to the market, particularly by Arc’teryx;

The Arc'teryx system is in conjunction with Skip.

A few years ago I did the Parkrun in Milan when we were over to watch the final of the Giro. There was a guy there who had been paralysed in a climbing accident. He did the event in an exoskeleton. It was pretty impressive, tbh. I did beat him though... ;0)

I gave up MTB when eBikes became a thing. Looks like I'll need to give up hiking too now.

Not a joke, but can’t be bothered trying to explain it. Even I don’t really think it makes sense.

Fair enough, we all do or think irrational things at times and are under no obligation to explain or justify them.  Personally, I wouldn't give up an activity I enjoy because someone else enjoys a different version of it which doesn't affect me.
