🤔.... Not got any eggs today.

Done some the other week.

Make pancake, then move to the side of the pan, sprinkle some sugar so that it starts to caramelise and then swirl the pancake in the caramel. Fold pancake and fill with thinly sliced apple and a bit of cinnamon and let the apple heat up a little. Serve.

Yum yum yum.

I had at least ten for breakfast, maple syrup inside and lemon juice over. I’ve since been out and had scones with jam and cream at Scarthin books. Any suggestions for tea to keep my diet balanced?

We had 24 between the three of us. Mostly with Golden Syrup on.

Last one went to Fin who was playing pancake Frisbee in the kitchen

@dyna-ti you posted a couple of times about the pancake placebover the years.

You know it still exists right? Atleast the one in Dundee does. Gone are the black wheel backs and the dingy interior, and much of the pancake dishes or way way way over the top.

Bacon and maple stack for brinner tonight.

Do have some ham sonmight nip out for some cheese of suitable persuasion

200g flour, 200ml milk, 200ml water, three medium eggs

I've no idea what my recipe is as I've always eyeballed it, but it's not that!

I also add a little virgin olive oil to the mix make cooking easier.

I agree, but butter is better.

Anyone got a savoury pancake suggestion?

Beans and cheese

TBH if you'd put it on toast it works in a pancake IME.

Dundee is a bit far to travel from Glasgow, even for the whiff of nostalgia. But interested to hear that a Dundonian is running one.

He must have stolen it.

There used to be one in st andrews aswell. The ridiculous buy in i think has done for a few. Certainly the standrews dropped the name for a bit but as i recall it returned eventually.

Mrs Wookie made us some pancakes for lunch.

Ingredients went a bit like this:

bit of flour

some oatily semi skimmed oat milk

little bit of baking soda

some chia seeds

bit of salt

bit of sugar

blend it all up in the whizzer and cook pancakes in the usual way.

if it were me, I'd have measured it all, but she doesn't do that sort of thing and prefers to go by feel.

once cooked, stacked with a combination of plant based Philadelphia, This!isn't bacon, and drizzles of maple syrup. it's very yum. the philli and maple syrup with bacon is really nice, I didn't think it would work until I tried it many years ago at HBW cafe in Stirling.

Her: What are you doing, making them and saving them for later?

Me: No, I'm making them and eating them.

Some very appreciated pancakes in Pitlochry this afternoon, it’s completely passed me by it was today. Jessie’s (formerly Escape Route I think?).

Just made and eaten some Pajeon with cabbage, raw carrot and soy sauce/sesame/garlic/maple syrup dressing and waiting for her to feed me the more traditional ones with chocolate spread/banana/raspberries/blueberries/yoghurt/grated dark chocolate/maple syrup/etc. Not really a lemon and sugar man.

Went with my traditional cheese+ham for the savoury course, then Nocilla (Spanish version of Nutella) + banana for dessert.

I also had my traditional thought of "why don't I make pancakes more often?", but of course I'll no doubt completely forget about them until this time next year 🙂

Went to a pancake "party" the other day with some ex-pat Russians. They do it rather differently! They have a pancake week and it's mostly savoury pancakes. The hostess made (more like built!) this amazing Liver Pancake Cake. I know, right.. Layers and layers of different fillings and pancakes, including liver, topped with sour cream. Shame, it was such a creation and everyone kinda took the piss, cos well, it was so unusual!

This is the nearest I could find https://eatlikemoldovans.com/recipes/crepe-cake-with-liver-pate/

"Interesting" is a good word for it! I didn't mind the liver cake, but I couldn't eat much of it as there was so much food 🙂

Yep, made mine last night and the only comment from the assembled host was that these taste suspiciously like omelettes.

Same standard recipe as above. Same outcome. 10 9” pancakes. Left overs in the fridge. Han and cheese followed by lemon curd. They’re 100 kcal per pancake without topping. Kids have left home and Mrs Tired is on a diet. So here are the survivors ready for track night.
